SMU COURSE ORIENTATION

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME

Dear Student,Congratulations!You are now a student of Sikkim Manipal University and

your Learning Center,Basu Bir Foundation.

This course orientation structure will guide you to complete the tenure of your specific course in which you have taken admission by making you aware of all the detailed procedure that has been taken into

consideration to complete your degree programme.

GETTING YOU ACCUSTOMED WITH THE COURSE

The Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) degree programme, is a Semester structured system in which you are required to sit for your examination after every six months.

We now proceed to provide you a comprehensive roadmap starting from the time you take admission at the university.

ATTENDING REGULAR AND WEEKEND CLASSES

After taking admission, you are provided with your semester study material provided by the university.

You get accustomed to the course contents and the subject patterns included.

For further understanding of your course you are recommended to attend regular classes on weekdays and weekend classes only on Saturdays and Sundays.

ABOUT INSTITUTE AND UNIVERSITY PORTAL

To further guide you in your course, you can visit our site, www.basubirfoundation.org , where you can download the various subject wise model question papers and moreover, you can visit the university learning portal, EDUNXT, where you can log on with your Registration Number, that will be provided in your university ID card, and distributed from your L.C.(learning center).

ABOUT IA & EXAMINATION PATTERN

The SMU exam pattern consists of the INTERNAL ASSIGNMENTS(IA) (30% of the total marks) and an ONLINE EXAM SYSTEM(70% of the total marks).

The Online exam system is further subdivided into 60% Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 40% Descriptive Questions.

HOW TO UPLOAD IA IN EDUNXT PORTAL

You are required to complete your IA before the commencement of your semester exam.

Your IA papers will be the number of subjects in your individual semesters and needs to be typed in word format with a page limitation of 8 pages per subject and a file size of 800KB per subject.

These word files are required to be uploaded in the portal, www.edunxt.smude.edu.in and the submission dates will be provided from your L.C.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR EXAM CENTER USING OEBS

For appearing in your semester exams, you have to book your examination dates with the Online Examination Booking System(OEBS) provided by SMU through the booking portal.

The dates of OEBS are announced in the university site, www.smude.edu.in, and in your L.C. website’s notice board, www.basubirfoundation.org . You are therefore, asked to check these sites frequently.

The facility of this OEBS is that you can choose the exam center, date, and time according to your own viable timings.

ABOUT UNIVERSITY RE-REGISTRATION PROCESS

You are required to complete your re-registration process for the next semester by paying the university registration fees by visiting your L.C. and paying the required amount announced by the university through the university portal, https://www.myzone.smude.edu.in.

You are requested to always complete your re-registration process at your L.C. within the stipulated dates announced by the L.C.(Basu Bir Foundation,SMU-Garia) to avoid paying of late fines, and discontinuation of your degree course.

Moreover, early registration for your next semester, helps the university in sending your study materials without any delay, so that you can start studying for the next semester for the next 6 months.

HOW TO APPEAR FOR BACK LOG PAPERS

If you are unable to pass in any papers or you were unable to sit

For any papers, you can always re-appear for those papers that would be considered to be back log papers and for that you are required to do the re-sitting process by paying online the stipulated re-sitting fees at your L.C. as and when announced by your L.C.

The re-sitting exam dates are also declared in the university website and your L.C. website, and you are always welcome to contact your L.C. for any kind of assistance.
