The Consumers Bill Of RightsConsumers had little ground on which to defend themselves against faulty or defective products, or against misleading or deceptive advertising methods prior to 1962.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy introduced the consumer bill of rights with additions made by President Nixon and President Ford.

The bill gave consumers SIX basic rights.
