Jerry: Go on -- tell me what happened.

Jill: Someone turned on the lights and Miss Peterson was standing on her

bed pointing to a snake on the floor. Her face was gray whiteif you everheard of thatand her mouth was wide open. One of the girls picked up the

snake and handed it to her. She screamed again. The snake was just a rubber

    thing.

Jerry: I bet she was sure mad about that.

Jill: She was so mad. She said it was not nice to play pranks on adults. Can

you imagine! She would not let us go to the lake for the next whole day.

Jerry: Jill, just look at that bulldozer over there! It is huge! I bet I could driveone of those.

Jill: You would not dare! I would tell Dad.

Jerry: Dont be such a baby. Im going to climb over this fence and see if Ican get a closer view.

Jill: Jerry, we shouldnt do this. What if we get caught? It says construction

    zonedangerkeep out!

Jerry: It wont hurt to just take a look. Are you with me our not?

Jill: I guessI better go in case you need some help. this is wrong.

Jerry: Come on. We havent got all day.

Jill: Jerry! I think I have hurt my foot. There must have been some kind of

sharp object in this pile of dirt.

Jerry: It will be all right. The workers will be coming soon and I want to get

a closer look at that bulldozer before they come back. I guess they are on

their lunch breaksomewhere over in those woods in the shade.

Jill: I cant walk very well. My foot is starting to bleed.

Jerry: Well you sit down here on this log and I will be back soon.

    (Jerry exits)

Jill: Why did I ever listen to that brother of mine? I knew he was wrong to

disobey Dad. Disobedience always brings trouble. Please dear, God, help

Jerry not to get hurt. I know we have disobeyed you, but please help us to

    get out of this mess.

    (Jill exits and Jerry returns)

Jerry: If I can just get a little closer to that machine, I will be able to see how

it operates. I think I can handle something like this with a little practice.

Why did I bring Jill along? She is being such a baby! She had better not tell

Mom and Dad about this. Hey! What is all that noise all of the sudden!

    (Jill behind stage)

Jill: (Screams) Jerry! Jerry! Look out! Jerry! Please, Jerry, come back!

Narrator: What is going to happen to Jerry now? It looks like he is sure in

big trouble. Do you think Jerry and Jill have made the right choice or the

wrong choice? What would you have done if you had been Jill? What would

you have done if you had been in Jerrys place? Well, come back next time

and see what is going to happen to Jerry.

Jerry Makes a Choice PART II

    Puppets: Jerry & Jill

    (Jill talks off stage)

Jill: Jerry! Jerry! Hurry and come back before you get hurt.

Jerry: I wish that sister of mine would just shut up! She never knows when

    to stop bothering me.

Jill: Jerry! Look out for the dump truck!

Jerry: I cant hear you. What did you say?

Jill: The dump truckon your left. It is coming your direction. You had

better get out of the way before you get hurt.

Jerry: I cant hear you! Just wait and I will be right thereafter I finishlooking at this bulldozer. I must get there and see it before those

construction workers get back from their lunch.

Jill: Hurry, Jerry, the truck is almost upon you!

Jerry: I am just about there. If only these rocks were not so sharp on my feet.

I should not have worn these thin sneakers. Ouch! That was a sharp one. I

had better be more careful! I must hurry because Dad will be home soon,

and Ill be in trouble for disobeying him.

    Jill: Jerry!

Jerry: What is that loud noise? Yikes! A dump truck! Those construction

workers must be back now. I will not get to see that bulldozer up close now.

Rats! Oh no! It looks like that dump truck is coming my way. Id better get

out of the way. I dont want to have that load dumped on me.

Jill: Hurry and get out of the way of the dump truck, Jerry.

Jerry: I am trying, but these thin sneakers are sure hard on my feet. I dontthink I am going to make it! Help me --- someone help me! (Jerry exits)

Jill: (comes to stage) Jerry! Jerry! Where are you? Oh, dear God, please help

me find Jerry. We should have listened to Dad. We should have never come

to this site. It is dangerous. The sign even says to keep out!

Jerry: (Muffled voice) Jill, I am over here.

Jill: Where are you? I cant see you.

Jerry: I am under this pile of dirtburied a few feet high from my waistdown with this load of dirt dumped on me.

Jill: Where is he? Oh there I see you. Are you all right? Oh Jerry I am so

    glad you are all right.

    (Jill exits stage)

Jerry: Just get this dirt off me, before those construction workers see us.

Jill: This is a lot of work. My arms are tired. Can you pull yourself out the

    rest of the way?

Jerry: Take a hole of my arms and pull hard.

Jill: I am. There that did it!

    (Jerry & Jill enter stage)

Jerry: Thanks, Jill. I dont know what I would have done if you hadnt beenthere for me.

Jill: I dont know what I would have done if Jesus hadnt been there for me.I prayed so hard that you would be safe.

Jerry: I know I did wrong by not listening to Dad. I suppose you will tell on

    me.

Jill: I think you should tell Dad on yourself. I will leave that up to you, Jerry.

Jerry: You sure are a swell Sis! I guess I will confess to Dad that I disobeyed

him. I made the wrong choice, and see where it got me?

Jill: You could have been killed if that dump truck had run over you, or

    buried you alive.

Jerry: First, I must tell God about my disobedience. Dear Jesus, please

forgive me for disobeying my Dad and you. I am sorry. I will try to be more

careful in the future. I will really try to do better. In Jesus name, Amen.

Jill: The Bible says, Children obey you parents in the Lord for this is rightEphesians 6:1.

Jerry: It also continues, That your days may be long upon the earth. I sure

agree with that. I glad I am still here. That was some scare! Lets go tell

    Dad, Jill!

Narrator: It looks like Jerry learned a lesson, boys and girls. It does not pay

us to break Gods laws. When God tell us to honor and obey our parents it isfor a good reason. God wants what is best for us!

    Puppets: Dad & Jerry

Dad: Come on outside and help me with this fence today, Jerry. We have a

lot of work to get done before your Mother and Jill get back from their

    shopping spree.

Jerry: What are we going to do?

Dad: I need to fix the old fence that the cows keep breaking throughandyour Mother has been after me for weeks to paint the fence around the front

    yard.

Jerry: Paint! Ugh! Its pretty hot out there for the paint to dry right.. isnt

    it dad?

Dad: Oh it will dry just fine. A perfect day for painting. Come on, lets getbusy. We have a days work ahead of us.. Where are the

paintbrushes? I put them right here in this shed after we painted the barn lastmonth. Do you know anything about them, Jerry?

Jerry: Wellugh.I think they are in the garage.

Dad: Who would have put them thereand for what purpose? I always keepthem in the shed.

Jerry: Dad.I painted my wagon and meant to wash them out, and I guess I

    just forgot.

Dad: Do you know how much paintbrushes cost, son? You have to take care

of them, or you will have to buy new ones It can get costly. Lets take alook at them.

Jerry: I m really sorry. I will try to remember the next timeHere theyare.

Dad: Lets clean them with some turpentine, and see if I can get them to be a

useable again. They look pretty decent now. I think we will givethem a try.

Jerry: Will we fix the fence or paint first?

Dad: It is cooler this morning and the sun will give the fence time to dry. We

may as well paint the fence now.

Jerry: This is work! Does your arm ever get tired, Dad?

Dad: It sure does, Jerry. God gave us so much energy. He wants us to use itand be diligent workers. A slothful man does not please God. You know

God told Adam when he put them out of the garden that man would work by

the sweat of his brow. A man must provide for his family and take care of

    them.

Jerry: You sure do that! You are the best Dad a fellow could have.

Dad: Even when I have to discipline you?

Jerry: Well, that is not a fun part, but I guess I need it sometimes.

Dad: I wonder who that is coming over here?

Jerry: It looks like someone from the construction site over across the field. I

    wonder what they want?

Dad: I dont know, but we will soon find out. Here comes the truck up thelane. It looks like there are two people in the truck. I dont know what they

    would be coming here?

Jerry: Maybe they are thirsty and need a drink of water.

Dad: I can hardly imagine that. They come prepared with their own water

containers. It must be something important. We will soon find out. They are

    coming this direction now.

    A Strange Visitor Part II

Puppets: Jerry, Dad, Miss Dozer, & Mr. Dump

    (Dad enters stage alone)

Dad: We have some strange visitors; and I do not know what this is about,

but we will soon find out.

    (Miss Dozer enters)

Miss Dozer: Hello! We are looking for a Jerry Jones. Would you happen to

    know anything of his where-a-about?

Dad: Well, he does happen to live here. I am his father. Is there anything that

    I can help you with?

Miss Dozer: As we were working over at the construction site today we

came upon this billfold. I needed to look inside to find out whom it belonged

to. There shouldnt be anyone over there and it did not belong to any of the

constructions workers. Since your place was so close to the site, I thoughtyou might know something about the billfold and the owner.

Dad: It is my sons billfold. He must have dropped it over there last week. Iwill make sure that it is returned to him.

Miss Dozer: We dont want anyone playing around over there. It could bevery dangerous and I would not want someone to get hurt.

(Dad and Miss Dozer exit. Jerry and Mr. Dump enter stage)

Mr. Dump: So, you are Jerry.

    Jerry: Yes, sir.

    11/31

Mr. Dump: How did your billfold manage to be at the site where we are

    working?

Jerry: I went over there last week with my sister, Jill. She told me not to, but

I would not listen to her.

Mr. Dump: Sometimes we need to listen to our sister or brother. I remember

one time when I was a young kid we walked over to a dam that was close to

our home. My mother and father had warned us kids many time the dangers

of the dam. I was strong- headed and wanted to find out for myself. The day

we went over it had been raining hard for many days. The people in the little

town where I lived were afraid of the dam breaking.

Jerry: Wow! That would have been neat to have seen. Was the water about

    to overflow on the dam?

Mr. Dump: Yes, It was. I noticed a small break in the dam. From what I had

    heard that was very dangerous.

    Jerry: What did you do?

Mr. Dump: I ran as fast as I could and told the men in the town. They were

able to fix the dam in time before it broke and flooded the whole town. Oh I

was a hero, but I had also disobeyed my Mother and Father.

Jerry: I did tell my Dad I was sorry. I also asked God to forgive me, too. I

told my Dad I would try and never do that again.

Mr. Dump: Jerry, what was you over there for anyway?

Jerry: The bulldozer fascinated me. I wanted to get close to it and see how to

    operate it.

Mr. Dump: Do you realize how dangerous that could have been if you hadstarted the machine?

Jerry: Yes, I do, sir. It would be so neat to drive on one. I cant wait until Iget older and drive one myself.

Mr. Dump: How would you like to go for a ride in one next week?

Jerry: You really mean it? I can ride that big bulldozer? Wait until I tell Jill.

She will be green with envy!

Mr. Dump: Ill stop by next week and pick you up if it is all right with yourDad. Bring your sister with you if she wants a ride also.

Jerry: Yippee! Dad will have to say yes.

Narrator: Will Jerry and Jill really get to ride the bulldozer? Will Jerry

behave himself and not get hurt again? Lets wait and see next week.

    Jill: What did you say?

Jerry: I am invited.. I mean we are invited to ride on the bulldozer over atthe construction site where we went that time without permission.

Jill: Wow! You really mean it? When did this all take place?

Jerry: Oh. They just dropped off my billfold that I had left over there and

invited me.. I mean us for a ride.

Jill: As simple as that! When can we go?

Jerry: Well, I had to ask Dad first for permission. He said we could as long

as we did not get into any trouble. Mr. Dump said he would come over today

and pick us up this afternoon.

Jill: Jerry, dont you go and try anything dangerous. You hear me?

Jerry: Sure, lets go sit outside and wait for Mr. Dump.

Jill: I heard that Miss Peterson will not be teaching our class any longer. She

    is going to retire.

Jerry: Who will be the new teacher? She was a good teacher, although a bit

    crabby sometimes.

Jill: I heard Mom and Dad talking and they said that Mr. Ellis was

    considering taking the class.

Jerry: Mr. Ellis! I sure hope so. He would be a neat teacher. He is a lot of fun

    at our picnics.

Jill: I remember when the kids dared him to accept the contest for whoever

won the most points for bringing visitors for the Sunday school rally.

Jerry: That was neat! He lost and the boys got to throw a chocolate pie in his

face. It looked good enough to eat!

Jill: Hey Jerry! It looks like we have a visitor!

Jerry: Lets go meet him down the lane. Race you. Last one is a turkey!

Jill: Im out of breath! I came in right behind you.

    Jerry: But I won!

Mr. Dump: Hop on in the truck and I will give you a ride over to the site.

Jerry: I cant wait to ride this big bulldozer. I have never ridden one before.Wait until I tell the kids at school tomorrow.

Mr. Dump: wait a minute! Youd better not say too much or I will have

every kid in this town coming for rides. I would not get any work done for

    giving bulldozer rides.

Jerry: Well here we are! Jump out Jill! Im ready to ride.

Jill: Jerry, remember what I said about not doing anything dangerous!

    Jerry: Ok, I hear you!

Mr. Dump: It is pretty high up here. Let me help you both up. Now sit still

and we will take a short drive around the site.

Jerry: Wow! This is neat. Look at the ground down there. Oh I would like to

    do the controls.

Mr. Dump: Well maybe when you get a little older, if I am around this area,

I will consider giving you more liberty with this here machine.

Jerry: What is that over there?

Mr. Dump: That is where we are digging a large whole in the ground for a

    landfill.

Jill: What will it be used for?

Mr. Dump: Do you know anything about recycling? Some people recycle

plastic milk jugs, pop cans, and so forth. This will be for the items that they

do not recyclesuch as food, and other garbage.

Jill: Phew! I imagine it will stink around here.

Mr. Dump: You might have some odor from time to time. It will be keptcovered with dirt. That will help with the odor..Well, we are back towhere we started.

Jerry: This was really a neat ride! Thanks so much for taking us, Mr. Dump.

Jill: Yes, we enjoyed the ride very much. May I ask you a question?

    Mr. Dump: Sure, go ahead.

Jill: Would you like to go to church with us on Sunday? We have a

wonderful church and some very nice people.

Mr. Dump: I just might. I have not been able to go to church much since I

started this job. The job requires so many hours and days that I have been

too tired. Yes, I just might do that!

Jill: We sure hope to see you again, real soon! Thanks again for the ride.

Jill: I dont feel very well this morning.

Mother: Jill! You have bumps all over you. Do you feel sick to your

    stomach?

    Jill: Just a little.

Mother: Would you like to try and eat a little something? I have some oats

fixed with toast and jelly. That might make you feel a little better. Why

dont you sit down here at the table and eat something?

Jill: I hate to miss church today. This is the first Sunday for our new teacher,

Mr. Ellis. I really wanted to be there.

Mother: I am sure Mr. Ellis will understand. I believe he will be a good

    teacher for your class.

Jill: Mother, will I really have to stay home this morning?

Mother: Yes, dear. I am afraid you will need to. You do not want any other

of the kids to catch what you havewhich looks like chicken pox.

Jill: Chicken Pox! That means I will be home for two weeks!

Mother: I am sure we will find enough things around here to keep you busy.

Now eat this breakfast. I must leave in a few minutes for church. I have tostop by and pick up a couple kids for Mrs. Knox this morning. She isntfeeling well either. Your father has already left to help with the bus route

    Jerry: Sure thing! So long!

    Jerry & Mom: Goodbye, Jill.

    (Jerry exits)

Jill: Why did I have to get sick now? I know God could have prevented thisif He had wanted to. Its just not fair. I will miss so much and am stuck hereat home by myself.

Jill: I guess I will read my Sunday school lesson. Lets see ..Where was

that reference in the Bible? Now I see itRomans 8 verse 28. And weknow that all things work together for good to them that love the

Lord..How would that apply to me?

Jill: I dont see how being sick at home on a Sunday is for my good. My

family is gone.I am left here by myself.oh what a day. I feel a littletired. I also feel a little sleepy. Ill just lie down on the sofa for a short while.

    (Snores)

    (Jerry enters)

Jerry: Jill! Jill! Guest who was at church this morning?

Jill: What? What was that you said? I must have fallen asleep.

Jerry: Yes, he walked in the church and sat on our pew. He liked the service.

Jill: Thats not fair! Here I invited him to church, and the first time he showsup, I am sick.

Jerry: Jill, look at it like this. In Sunday school Mr. Ellis talked about all

things working together for our good. Even though you were sick and had to

stay homeyou were rewarded by bringing someone to church. Your tree

bared fruit. You were busy for God, and he brought good out of yourwitnessing for Him.

Jill: Oh, Jerry, I am so happy. I hope he will come again. I was a little selfish

in my attitude. I also grumbled too much. I need God to help me not to be

such a complainer. So you think Mr. Dump will come again?

Jerry: I know he will! He sang the songs, prayed and went up front when the

pastor asked if anyone wanted to give their lives to God.

Jill: That is so wonderful! God know what He was doing even when I could

    not see it.

Narrator: God is in control. He is working on our attitudes every day.

Sometimes we do not always show the best attitude but God is always there

to remind us about how He wants us to act. Jill was faithful in witnessing,

and God rewarded her efforts. Are you boys and girls witnessing for Jesus?

Jerry & Jill Go Church Camping Part II

    Puppets: Jerry, Jill, Father, Mother

    Jill: Will it hurt?

Mother: No Jill --- the peroxide will not hurt at all. In fact it will feel cool on

    your feet.

Jill: Will I be able to go to camp still?

Mother: We will have to see how bad these burns are. We may be able to get

    you some crutches.

    Jill: Crutches!

Mother: Be still, Jill while I pour this peroxide on your feet. You are moving

around too much. I want as much of it to stay on your feet as possible.

    Jill: Ouch!

Mother: Now did that really hurt?

Jill: No, I guess not. Just look at my feet. They are beginning to cover with

    blisters.

Mother: Thats what a serious burn will do. Your feet will probably be all

covered in the blisters before long. You will have to use crutches to getaround for a while.

Jill: Everyone will be looking at me at camp. I will feel embarrassed.

Mother: Everyone will know that you have had an accident. They will

    understand.

Jerry: Wow! You really have awful looking feet. Those blisters are covered

on your feet. Does it hurt?

Jill: Not too bad. The worst part is over --- when I first stepped on the

    smoldering fire.

Jerry: Mom went into town to rent you some crutches. We leave in the

    morning. I cant wait!

Jill: Remember to behave yourself. Ill probably slow you down being on thecrutches and all.

Jerry: Youll be just fine. I think that will be coolyou on crutches walking

    around the campground.

    Jill: Jerry!

Jerry: Well I mean it will be nice that you will have crutches in order to get

    around easier.

(Jerry and Jill exit) (Mother and Dad return)

Father: Do you think Jill will be all right on this trip?

Mother: I think she be just fine. She will have to take it easy. She will not be

able to get around as fast as she is accustomed to going.

Father: Well go ahead and load up the car so we will be ready to leave first

thing in the morning .after breakfast of course.

Mother: I did pick up Jill some crutches in town today. See will get use tothem if she wants to walk much.

Father: If you want to call for Jerry and Jill, we will have our family Bible

reading time and prayer earlier tonight. We could all use a good nights rest.

Mother: That is a good idea. Ill get them.

(Mother exits) (Returns with Jill and Jerry)

Father: We will read from the book of Ephesians chapter 4 verse 25.

Wherefore putting away all lying, speak every man the truth with his

neighbor; for we are members one of another.

Jerry: What does that part mean.. We are all members one of another?

Father: God wants us to be a part of His family. If we are a part of His

family we will treat each other in an honest manner. We will not try to do

things that are dishonest with our school friends, family, neighbors, and

    church friends.

    Jerry: Oh I see.

Father: As we pray, lets remember to pray for Jills feet to heal quickly. We

want to pray for a safe trip while we travel and a good time at the church

camp. Also, remember your new Sunday school teacher, Mr. Ellis, as he

    works with this ministry.

Mother: Lets also thank the Lord for all his many blessings.

    (All puppets exit)

Narrator: Will Jills feet hinder her from having a good time at church

camp? What about Jerry? Do you think he has learned his lesson and will

not take his adventure kit with him to camp? What exciting adventures do

you expect to hear next week? Come back and see. Remember bring

    someone with you!

    on this camping trip.

Jerry: Come on, Jill lets explore. I see a trail that goes back through the

woods. It looks like a new trail.

Jill: Ok, but I will need to take it slower than usual.

Jerry: Wow! Look at that waterfall! Wouldnt it be exciting to go down

    those falls?

Jill: Jerry! What a thing to say.

Jerry: Come on. there are some canoes down there. Lets go!

Jerry: Here let me help you into this canoe. We will just take a short trip

    around the lake.

Jill: It doesnt look very steady..this canoe.

Jerry: It will be fine. Here hold this paddle and help me.

Jill: Im really not very good at paddling. I get tired so easy.

Jerry: Wow! This is neat. This water doesnt look too deep here. Lets watch

those falls though. I dont want to hit any rocks and turn this canoe upside-down.

Jill: Yikes! Jerry. Dont even talk that way. It is time for us to get back.

Jerry: Lets go around this bend and then we will turn back.

    Jill: You promise?

Jerry: Yes, I promise. The current is getting faster. Help me with that oar.

Jill: I am helping. My arm is about to fall off. Lets turn around now.

Jerry: AAHhhhhhhhhhh, just take a look at that.

Jill: Jerry! TURN BACK NOW! That is the falls you are seeing.

We are getting in the danger zone. Do you see those signs?

Jerry: Im trying, Jill. The boat wont turn around.

Jill: We are really in for big trouble now. Oh dear God please help us get the

    boat back to safety.

Jerry: What was that you said. I cant hear for the sound of the falls so closeto us.

Jill: What are we going to do?

Narrator: Oh no! Jerry and Jill are really in BIG trouble! What is going to

happen? Will they go over the falls? Boys and girls, sometimes bad things

    Jill: Im scared.

Jerry: Oh, dont be such a baby.

Jill: But what if we go over those falls.

Jerry: Well get this canoe turned around. Just give me a little more help.

Jill: I cant. My arm is hurting.

Jerry: Well, give me the oar.

Jill: You cant do it by yourself.

Jerry: I have no choice. The water is getting swifter, and we do not have

    time to spare.

Jill: I wish that I had not listened to you.

Jerry: It is too late for that now. You had better do some praying.

Jill: I dont think we are getting any farther away from the falls at all. Itlooks like we are getting closer.

Jerry: I really need your help. It is hard doing two oars in this current.

Jill: I will try. Hand me an oar.

    Jerry: Get the oar, Jill!

Jill: I cant reach it. Oh, no! It went overboard. Now what will we do?

Jerry: I guess we had better start praying. I dont see how we are going tomake. Jill, you pray.

Jill: Dear God, we should not have come out in this canoe without

permission. Please forgive us. Help us to get back to safety someway. Help

us to be more careful in the future. In Jesus name we pray

    Jerry and Jill: Amen!

Jill: Im scared, Jerry. What if God decides to allow us to go over the falls?

Jerry: We did get ourselves in this mess. I hope God will send

    helpotherwise

    Jill: Do you hear that?

    Jerry: What?

Jill: It sounds like a motorboat.

Jerry: It is a motorboat. Help! Help! Here we are.

    Jill: We need help!

Jerry: Here Jill, take this red handkerchief and wave it.

    Jill: Help! Please help us!

Jerry: The boat is getting closer. They are coming this way. Keep waving the

    handkerchief.

you in. The motorboat has much more power than that canoe. Hold on! You

    hear me?

Jerry and Jill: Yes, we will!

Jill: Thank you, God, for bringing help to us. I will be so glad to see Mom

again. I thought I might never see her again.

Jerry: That was a close call, Jill. Look theres the beach. I see a crowdwaiting.

    (Mom and Dad enter stage)

Mom: Jerry! Jill! I am so glad to see you safely! Thank God!

Dad: Dad: We were so concerned when you two did not show up for dinner.

I started checking around and some kids said they had seen two kids leave in

a canoe. I was afraid it was you two when I couldnt find you anywhere.

Jerry: Dad, I was wrong. I talked Jill into going with me. I will never do that

again. I would have been to blame if we had gone over those falls.

Dad: Son, we are so glad that you are here safe with us. God answered

prayer. He helped us find you and bring you back safely. I trust you will be

    more careful in the future.

Jerry: I sure will. Boy, I am hungry! We missed dinner.

Mom: Lets go eat. I have some of those chocolate chip cookies waiting for

    you, also.

Narrator: Wow! God did answer prayer for Jerry and Jill! They were sure in

a heap of trouble. Isnt it wonderful, boys and girls, to know that God will

answer prayer for you, too? Maybe you are praying about something in yourlife. Keep trusting God. He will never fail you! Sometimes He doesntalways answers in the way you would like Him too, but He does answer!
