Business News Lufthansa German Airlines increasing the number of weekly air flights to Egypt to 41on the occasion of celebrating the 60th anniversary of flying to Egypt. Decision was attributed to the increase of the number of passengers by 50 % above last year. Worth indicating is that German tourists are considered among the above average spending tourists. The decision drives the number of weekly seats offered on Lufthansa flights to increase but 38 % above last year figures.

First flight of Lufthansa arrived Marsa Alam on its direct flight package from Munich in Germany inaugurating a new line linking directly both cities. The flight carried 196 tourists it was ceremonially received. Package provides, initially, three flights weekly between both cities. Industry observers predict tangible success of the package expecting it to followed by numerous other packages.

That reported in the media indicating that Mena house Hotel was built in 1869 during Khedewi Ismail Era in 1869 con comprises 331 suites & 40 feddans parks & green areas.

Projects in Pre-Tendering PhaseAs earlier predicted tourist arrivals from the Ukraine in 2018 are expected to reach one million by the end of the year. That was announced by the Ukraine Ambassador to Egypt after they have already reached 733,000 for the first 8 months of the year. Worth indicating that Egypt has already placed an order by Ukraine to deliver 17 tram cars to operate on Alexandria tram line.

Agreements have been reviewed & agreed upon during recent meetings between President Al Sisi & Dr. Jim Kim, ADB Chairman in Washington in September 2018 last. That was announced by Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment & International Cooperation, indicating loans include $ 1 billion soft finance to Sinai Projects, also other infrastructure projects related to agriculture & transport.

Projects in Pre-Tendering PhaseAn affiliate to El Sewedy Electric Group, El Sewedy Industrial Development, signed a contract to develop 10 Km2 land of the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal in Ein Al Sukhna to convert it into an integrated industrial city by investors. Project is set for completion over 10 years.

In correction to our earlier reporting on the new 2,100 MW dam project in Tanzania winner of the project is an alliance grouping both Arabco - Arab Contractors & El Sewedy Group. That was reported in all media indicating the project value is close to $ 3 billion & that a high ranking alliance is now in Dar El Salam to discuss relevant details. Media reports further disclosed that the Tanzanian negotiating team comprising executives of the Ministry of Energy, that of Public Works, Transport & Communication, also of the National Organization of Construction. Estimated project costs. Estimated project costs are put at almost $ 3 billion.

Contract signed with a Japanese alliance valued JY 247 million &L.E. 35 million to build the new Deirout Barrage to serve & improve irrigation of 1.5 million feddans. That was announced by Dr. Eng. Mohamed Abdel Aati, Minister of Water Resources & Irrigation for completion over three stages in December 2024. This is the second large irrigation barrage built by Egypt used also for hydroelectric power generation. The first was built in Esna, in Qena Governorate, by the Germans.

More details released on the King Salman $ 300 million university project with its three branches in Sharm El Sheikh, Toor Sinai & Ras Sidr to host 20,500 students. The project with its three branches would occupy 300 feddans total area and is scheduled to be operational as of school year 2019/ 2020 since work is going at all three branches at a time. So far 50 % of the buildings & concrete structure are complete. Sire executive announced the project generates more than 20,000 direct & indirect work opportunities. Main contractor is the Grand Projects Dept. of the Egyptian Armed Forces in cooperation with leading Egyptian contractors.
