West Chirag platform will become the largest construction, installed so far in the Caspian Sea. The total weight of the topsides, the foundations of which were laid in 2010 is 18,500 tons. The 18,200 tonne-jacket for the same platform was installed in April of this year. West Chirag platform will help to stabilize oil production at Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field’s block and bring the oil recovery to a maximum level. The designed capacity of the platform is 25,000 tons of oil and 6.5 million cubic meters of gas per day. The construction that has a great significance in the history of Azerbaijan’s oil industry was built by local experts. About 4,000 people, including contractors and suppliers were used in the construction of this huge installation and about 90 percent of the workforce was comprised of Azerbaijanis.
