Fitz, M. D. , Jack Koontz, M. D. , and Frank N. Sullivan, M. D. The Board reviewed requests from these individuals for computerizedmaterial. The Board adopted a motion that these requests for data begranted with the stipulation that the information cannot be sold or givento any other organization.

Re ort to the Executive Council

Dr. Blackmon reported on an effective presentation made by Keith Bullato the Drug Commission. The Board adopted a motion that this same presenta-tion be made by Mr. Bulla to the Executive Council of the North Carolina MedicalSociety at the next meeting.

The Executive Secretary reported that Dr. Young surrendered his licenseon November 19, 1980. The Board adopted a motion that this report be ac-cepted as information.

Patients in Nursing Homes with Chronic Brain Syndrome

Dr. Blackmon discussed with the Board the problem of grossly confusedpatients in nursing homes. The Board adopted a motion that the Board's attorneybe requested to determine whether this is a problem for the Medical Society orfor the Board of Medical Examiners, and that if the attorney determines thismatter is within the jurisdiction of the Board it be recommended to the NorthCarolina Department of Mental Health or to the Department of Justice to providenursing homes with locks and fences.

Dr. Lawing appeared as requested. The Board adopted a motion that Dr.Lawing be requested to appear in one year, and that the suspension of his revo-cation be continued under the same conditions.

D. , that he be so notified in writing, that he beadvised that he will be given a hearing on such charges that will be presentedagainst him, and that these charges be drawn up by the Board's attorney withthe help of the investigator.

The Board reviewed a request to use the proposed corporation name: Physiciansfor Women, Ltd. The Board adopted a motion that this request not be approved andthat a copy of the Board's regulations concerning corporation names be sent tothe group making the request with the suggestion that a qualifying adjective suchas "Elizabeth City" be inserted before the word "Physicians. The Board reviewed a request from Dr. Goodhall-Gunn to waive the standardcertificate of ECFMG as a prerequisite to her taking the FLEX examination inNorth Carolina. The Board adopted a motion that the requirement for holdinga standard certificate of ECFMG be waived and that Dr. Goodhall-Gunn be allowedto take the FLEX examination in North Carolina.

January, 1982, Meeting

The Board adopted a motion that the January meeting be held at the PinehurstHotel and that whenever possible board meetings be scheduled for Friday, Saturday,and Sunday rather than Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

George Altamont Little, M. D. , Baltimore, Maryland

The Board reviewed a recommendation from the Board's attorney that Dr.Little not be requested to surrender his license voluntarily at this time becauseof the possible adverse effect of this action on Dr. Little's satisfactoryprobationary status in Maryland. The Board adopted a motion that this report beaccepted as information, that the recommendation of the Board's attorney be followed,and that the Board's attorney request Dr. Little's attorney to inform the Boardif Dr. Little wishes to practice in North Carolina.

Re uest for Addition of Electrical Defibrillation by EMT-Intermediate

The Board reviewed a request to allow EMT-I's to perform electrical de-fibrillation. The Board adopted a motion that the Board of Medical Examinersdoes not believe that EMT-Intermediates have sufficient knowledge to perform de-fibrillation and that the Executive Secretary research the APA to determine howthis matter should be handled.

Delays by EMS Personnel in Transmitting Patients to Hospitals

The Board adopted a motion that Dr. Pagter call Bob Bailey to inform himthat the Board is concerned about these delays and believes that this matter shouldbe solved in Raleigh rather than on the local level, and that Bob Bailey be re-quested to report his action on this matter to Dr. Sullivan so that it may bereported to the Board at the next meeting.

Medications Approved for use by EMS Personnel

Dr. Reynolds reported to the Board on a request of Dr. Stringer's to modifythe list of medications approved for use by EMS personnel. He requested thatLowphed, Aramine, Phenobarbital, and Morphine be deleted from this list of drugs,that Morphine be replaced with Nubain, and that Brytelium be added to the list ofapproved drugs. The Board adopted a motion that Dr. Stringer be informed thatthe Board is considering this matter.

Application Form

The Executive Secretary discussed with the Board the possibility ofrevising the license by endorsement application form. The changes hementioned include attachment of a release form to the application so thatinvestigative information could be obtained, revising the size of the form,no longer requiring the applicant to submit two photographs, and considerationof adopting a standardized form through the Federation. The Board adopted amotion that Dr. Pagter and the Executive Secretary work together on revisingthe Board's present application form and report their recommendations tothe Board.
