Connecting You to the Latest News & Info from the Integrity Solutions Division

As we look forward to 2015 the media is full of stories about the changing price of oil and it’s impact on the various shale plays and pipeline projects across North America. Mostly due to substantial supply inventories and the continued output of OPEC nations, the price of oil has plummeted to record lows not seen since the 2009 recession.

So what does that mean for our business?

As a provider of services specifically focused on the safe operation of the nation’s pipelines, the “Integrity Solutions” team is in a great position! Pipeline and utility companies fall under regulatory bodies that require the continued focus on integrity management programs. Even if new projects may be impacted by the price of oil, Operators must continue to ensure the safe operation of their pipelines! Additionally, as Operators begin to struggle with ways to reduce their internal costs we expect to see more outsourcing and the availability of experienced people flooding the market as both Operators and Construction/Engineering firms reduce their workforces to deal with the changing market. This is a great time for us to focus on being the Best Service Provider! A strong Willbros Integrity Solutions offering will help us to solidify our client base and enable us to attract new talent that will assist our growth strategies moving forward. Now is the time to Own It!

Best regards,

illbros is currently working with a major oil company to supply integrity solutions for their integrity field initiatives. We’ve brought in experts from our Integrity Solutions groups in Ohio, Houston, Kan-sas City, Colorado, and Hauppauge. This project truly reaches across all of our Integrity services offerings and pulls together a complete gold standard for this organization. The services we’re providing are: PCM (Pipeline Current Mapper) data, Line locate, CIS (Close Interval Survey), DCVG (Direct Current Voltage Gradient), DOC (Depth of Cover Survey) and encroachments in the ROW (Right of Way). Our results are displayed using our state of the art technology Integra LinkTM. This allows the client to view near real time results - a service offering unparalleled by any other consultant in the industry. Our efforts will al-low the client to pinpoint areas of interest, as it relates to centerline adjustment, potential areas of “lack of cover,” as well as areas where their cathodic protection may be in need of review. Our efforts are challenged by multiple pipelines in the ROW and are a continued partnership with the client to ensure accurate results and standards for their efforts in the future. This pilot project is slated to continue through this year, with the goal of continuing this work with our cli-ent on an annual basis. We are currently focusing on Corpus Christi, Texas. We are expanding to Montana,

California, and other regions of Texas to further serve this client’s integrity efforts as our potentially long-term partnership develops. Our efforts in this project will supply the client valuable information as it relates to their centerline (where their pipeline exists in the world), the condition of the coating (leads to potential corrosion issues) and how much cover and encroachment exists in the ROW. This project provides the full solution to the client with our field services, back office support of GIS and integrity data, and the technology efforts that set Willbros apart from our competitors.

TECHNOLOGYUPDATE

WillView is a Right of Way project management tool used in Land & Survey Field Solutions. WillView is a web-enabled workflow and document management application capable of managing large amounts of data along with useful reports for management and project teams. WillView uses integrated GIS data and mapping capabilities utilizing Integra Link.

WillView continues to evolve as its usage expands, it is currently being utilized on seven projects. Willbros has created a separate instance of Willview that incorporates the construction part of our business, working closely with Willbros T&D Services to update the application.

The development team continuously strives to make feature enhancements for Integra LinkTM to meet the demands of our clients. During this process the development team was notified by Google of the dep-recation of the Google Maps Engine, which is one of the platforms Integra Link is built on. The development team has spent a considerable amount of time research-

ing a replacement, and they are very optimistic they have found a suitable long term solution in GeoServer. Other enhancements the team has made and is currently working on include: locate features, the advance in depth and breadth that are integrated with external field data collection systems, redlining capabilities, and station locator.

illbros speakers were front and center at the 2014 Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) Conference. The Company was also among the sponsors for this major oil and gas industry conference held recently in Houston. “It was the perfect venue to showcase Willbros’ capabilities relating to GIS (Geo-graphic Information System) and the full-life cycle of pipeline integrity,” says Amy Jo McKean, Director of In-tegrity Solutions with Willbros Engineers.

According to McKean, the industry recognizes Willbros as a leader in the use of GIS, a computerized system that captures, stores, analyzes and presents data. “We utilize GIS data and our engineering experience to assess the integrity of a pipeline. Willbros has a great deal of expertise in this area,” McKean says.

The purpose of the GITA Conference is to educate pipeline operators on new advancements in technology and products including: GIS technology, geospatial

technology, mapping, pipeline services, pipeline integrity and integrity management, compliance data, and regulatory compliance.

WILLBROS RIDES HIGH IN CHRISTMAS PARADEWillbros Engineers displayed the holiday spirit by taking part in the recent Tulsa Christmas Parade. Employees and their families rode on the Willbros float or walked in the parade, which paid tribute to veterans and current mem-bers of the U.S. Armed Services. “The parade brought Willbros families together to benefit a great cause,” says Heather Taylor, Commerical Coordinator for Upstream Engineering. “More than 30,000 spectators came out to see the floats, marching bands and five-story-tall balloons.” This year’s beneficiary of the parade proceeds was Soldiers Wish, an organization that grants wishes to our men and women in uniform. Willbros employ-ees who are veterans rode on the Company float as guests of honor.

SAFETY STAR Rich Welch - Field Supervisor

SPOTLIGHT Kevin Bodenhamer- Professional Services Engineer

It is important for Willbros to have P.E.’s in every stateIt took dedication and patience and Kevin Bodenhamer says it paid off. Bodenhamer has now become licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in all 50 states.

Bodenhamer, Vice President and Chief Engineer with Professional Services, encourages all Willbros engineers to become licensed. “Licensed P.E.’s merge their specialized skills with high standards for ethics and quality assurance to ensure public safety,” said Bodenhamer. “Only Professional Engineers have the authority to sign and seal engineering plans and offer their services to the public.”

Engineering professions in the U.S. are regulated at the state level. All states require engineering services to be offered and performed by a P.E. If individual engineers working on the project are not registered, they must be supervised by a P.E., who is ultimately responsible for the project.

“It is important for Willbros to have P.E.’s in every state,” emphasized Bodenhamer. “I’m glad that I can help the Company with this need.”

“Rich Welch’s motto has always been one centered around ‘Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.’ As an Operations Manager, I am so proud to see ALL of my teams discuss, and truly believe in, this same motto at their weekly tailgate sessions. Although all of my employees continue to impress me and make me proud, there is one gentleman in particular whom I would like to point out.

I would like to recognize one of my Field Supervisors as a Safety Star for this month. George (Rich) Welch, Field Supervisor for Delaware and Maryland, has played a very important role in my career.

Every single morning, Rich sends safety reminder emails to his employees and copies me on them. I look forward to his emails each morning because he keeps them interesting and relatable to his guys in the field. Not only has his safety communication efforts been noticed and appreciated, but he also continues to conduct well-over the amount of employee safety audits and vehicle inspections required each month!

Rich has always been, and continues to be, extremely safety conscious. I have been VERY fortunate to have Rich work for me at Premier as well as at our previous company. There are no words to describe his dedication and knowledge of the industry. He is truly a leader of safety in the field!”

Thank you for your support;Your Operations and Safety Team

Willbros Peter Veenstra plays ice hockey with his

10-year-old son Jory on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the

ice rink he built in his Brookside (Kansas City)

neighborhood backyard. “I’ve had an ice rink ever

since I was 4 years old; my dad made it every year,”

said Veenstra, a Canada native.

And it’s no small job. He tilled part of his yard flat,

built the 18-by-32-foot frame with 2-by-8’s, laid

down layers of tarps and plastic — and waited for

the cold. “And then you just slowly flood it and

flood it and flood it,” he said.

Now his son Jory can make the same childhood

memories he did.
