Just wanted to share some great news from the field! ("not a JRN contest"), the past 6-8 months my area team and I have really been focusing on CFF and FSA. We are always looking for "ways to win" as we realize "it can be done"! Debbie Hunter (Area Manager) is a great example!

I thought back of my personal career and I was always attracted to contests as I’m always a competitor to win when given the chance. I threw out a challenge to my area around three months ago, that I would personally give out $75.00 to the RGM and $50.00 to each Assistant Manager and a pizza party to the Crew for anyone obtaining a "90" or above on a CFF!

A Second Chance Mr. Goff,

Just a note of thanks for the six (6) KFC gift certificates you sent due to an unsatisfactory visit to the KFC in Pigeon Forge, TN last December. During the week of April 15-18, we visited Pigeon Forge, TN again and on Sunday the 18th, we ate at KFC and it was a very pleasant experience. The employee, (Mr. Elmer Luck) who took our order, was very professional and friendly. He was very helpful with answering our questions and explaining the menu. Our order was prepared quickly and the food was delicious. During our meal, I also noticed that his attitude with all the customers was very positive and professional.

I feel as though I also need to apologize. We had decided to never visit KFC again in Pigeon Forge and had actually forgotten about the certificates you mentioned. However, due to your kindness in sending the certificates, we did visit and as stated above, had a very pleasant experience. We feel we may have judged your business a bit harshly from one bad experience.

The certificates covered the expense of the food we had to throw out from last December and we appreciate your kindness and feel KFC does care for their customers.

I would like to ask one more thing of you if possible, please acknowledge Mr. Luck for his professionalism with the public. Good employees are an asset to any business and should be recognized for a job well done.

Again, thank you for your kindness in sending the certificates and caring for your customers. Respectfully, Edna White

The KFC Diet I just think that there is a misconception

with KFC compared to other restaurants with a so called "more healthy" choice. My doctor put me on a low carb diet. As I researched my options, I chose KFC's grilled chicken breast and green beans. I have been eating that for lunch every day now for 18 days less weekends. I have lost a total of 20 pounds. I weighed 269 when I started. My goal is 135 pounds which I intend to reach by the way. I will continue to eat my special lunch item at KFC everyday. The staff there is so supportive and know me when I pull up. We joke about everyone knowing my total is $4.31. I'm a business professional and I know how the choices we make are 90% from perception of what we think we are getting. I believe that KFC has a great menu to offer the health conscious consumer, but you need to spread the word. I have shared my meal with several people in my home town, but of course seeing is believing and they see me losing the weight while still enjoying my KFC. I just wanted to share this with your company and say a big "Thank You" to the KFC in Jackson, Missouri....they are doing a great job!

Who needs Subway and Dave....I have my KFC! Christina Flannigan

Even though we got carry out, the visit was a great one. The manager and employees were having fun and held conversation with me, while they packed my food. I appreciate they took their time and got my order right, while they provided great customer service.”

“I had stopped visiting your Sikeston, MO KFC for several reasons but I recently visited the store and was pleasantly surprised. The service and food have definitely improved. “I travel from NC to MD each week and on my return trip home I almost always stop at the KFC on Davis Hwy in Fredericksburg, VA. I usually see Jamal, Wendy and Doris. They are three of the finest individuals I have ever encountered in restaurant business. They are always pleasant, smiling and seem to be happy. They make my visit a true pleasure,” writes a carry out customer of the Massaponax store.

Making Good I previously had a bad experience with

the chicken I had purchased on 5-9-10. I went on line and did your survey from the receipt and was contacted by Antonio at the Harding Place, Nashville, TN store. He was so kind and offered to replace my order or refund my money. The reason I complained on 5-9-10 was because I felt I was served something that wasn't up to KFC standards. I love KFC and really miss the store on Nolensville Road so I don't have the chance to enjoy KFC very often and when I finally got to get it I was disappointed. Like mentioned before, Antonio contacted me and apologized for my experience. I gave KFC another chance this past weekend, and got to meet Antonio. He replaced my order and it was so good. The chicken this time was definitely up to KFC standards. It was hot and the pieces of chicken were the size expected to get. My first order, three legs and two thighs and two biscuits, fit in one small snack pack box. This time it was substantially larger pieces. Just wanted to thank Antonio for contacting me regarding my experience and let you all know that he made amends. Thanks KFC! Also, we really need a KFC on the Nolensville Road/Old Hickory Blvd side of town. It is a shame there really aren't any good places to get chicken in my neighborhood. Vivian Caldwell, customer

GREAT JOB, ANTONIO, OF WINNING BACK THE CUSTOMER.......! Tony George, Area Manager

Glad To Be Here Hello David,

Well today is my 11th year with JRN and I’m sitting in my office just reflecting on how the company has changed from the first day with you all, and it is truly amazing not only for where the company has gone but also where I have gone in my life and more important my family’s life. I don’t know maybe it’s just old age catching up with me but it’s been a big year at my house. I’ve got one daughter who graduated from college this year and my youngest goes into officer training for the Marines at Quantico, and all of this was made possible by me working at JRN.

I remember a phone call I had with you 11 years ago after Rodney interviewed me. You said, and I may be off a bit, but it was something like this, “are you ready to get paid more than you have in the past,” and I said “yes” and here I am. In this day and age it’s just great to be working when many of my friends are being laid off and to be with a company that values its people is a blessing because I know it must have been hard and a struggle for JRN to keep all the people it did. I’m not sure what I am really trying to say but I am sure about one thing, thank you to John R. and you. It has been a pleasure working here and I can’t wait to see what the next 11 years brings. Today is also my 24th wedding anniversary, but I can’t blame that on JRN (just kidding). Mike Lake, Area Manager

Mike, I really appreciate your sincere note about your JRN employment. Having you on JRN's Operations Team has really been good for all of us and all of your managers and team members. Really proud of your daughter joining the USMC. Before Vietnam my EOD school was in Quantico.

Thanks for your ongoing contributions to JRN and KFC. We are blessed! David Neal, Senior VP JRN Operations

Phone Phonies Hello Frankie (Bostick, JRN Marketing)

A guy called and says he's marketing manager for KFCC named Richard Parker. He asked to speak to the manager and asked if I was a manager and asked my name....

He said they are sending out Adam Bryan 6/4/10, Friday between 11-3 to give the crew t- shirts at no charge.

He wanted to put me on hold to record the conversation. I refused and told him he had to call our home office. He said he could not keep calling back. I ask why would they call each store and not our home office. He said he was asked to do this. He continued to ask was 302 Hanson Avenue the correct address. I asked him the same questions again...... He ignored me.

He would not tell where his home office was so I hung up.

Do you know anything about this? Trish Smith, RGM Hanson Ave. Fredericksburg, VA

We have had three stores in my area contacted by a person saying that he represents KFC marketing, He asks the manager in charge to take a code that he will call back and verify in order to authorize distribution of free t-shirts, at no charge.

Please inform all employees to immediately bring this to the attention of the Manager in charge should this SCAM attempt occur at your restaurant. The best practice for now would be only management answers the telephone. Bruce Theobald, Area Manager

“My Favorite Animal” This story came from the internet by

way of Sharon Bobo, JRN Accounting, and David Neal JRN Senior VP, Operations, Martha Sellers, JRN Human Resources and Mike Howdyshell, RGM, Waynesboro, VA.

“My teacher asked us what our favorite animal was, and I'd said, "Fried chicken". My teacher said I was being disrespectful. She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right. Everyone else in the class laughed.

My parents told me to always be honest and I am. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much. I do too. Especially chicken, pork and beef.

Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him what happened and he laughed too. Then he told me not to do it again.

The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chickens. She asked me why, just like she'd asked the other children. So I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken.

She sent me back to the principal's office again. He laughed, and told me not to do it again.

I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am.

Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most. I told her "Colonel Sanders".

Guess where I am now…”
