Checking your Computer for Bluetooth To check if your computer is Bluetooth Enabled, access the computer’s Device Manager. In Windows 10 you can get to Device Manager several ways, the easiest is to simply right-click (that’s the other mouse button) the Start button in the lower left, and select “Device Manager” from the menu that appears. In Device Manager we are looking for the presence of Bluetooth. If it appears, then we have the Bluetooth hardware we need on the computer. If your computer did not come Bluetooth enabled, an aftermarket Bluetooth antenna, like the one shown to the right, which plugs into a USB port, can be purchased and installed. Adding Your Black Cat II Radar Recorder as a Bluetooth Device on Your Computer Once you have confirmed that you do have an active Bluetooth connection, you can add the Black Cat II Radar Recorder as a device. To do this, first be sure the Black Cat II Radar Recorder’s battery is connected, which powers on the unit. Then, go to your Start Menu and Select Settings, next select the Devices. In the Devices window click the Bluetooth option in the menu to the right and then “Add a Bluetooth Device.” Then select Bluetooth from the “Add a Device” menu. Allow the listing to populate. Again make sure you have powered on, and awake, the Black Cat Radar by pressing the “Wake” button on the face of the Black Cat II Radar head unit then you should see your Black Cat II Radar Recorder appear in the list. Select the newly found Radar and hit next, the Black Cat II Radar Recorder will be added to your Device listing in Windows 10. Click theX in the top right corner to exit the wizard. (Note that if you have more than one Radar Recorder, you will need to repeat the adding process for each additional Black Cat Radar Recorder you have.)

At this point, we can start the STARneXt software. Select Download or Setup from the menu options, then select the Black Cat II Radar (lower left for Download and far right for Setup), the Black Cat II Radar Recorder Download/Setup screen will appear next. Select the COM port that shows the Black Cat II Radar Recorder you want to connect to and you’re ready to go.
