Spirit Rally Excitement and energy filled the air as St. Agnes

students gathered on the playground for a spirit rally held on Friday, August 28th. Donning their St. Agnes spirit-ware or the school colors, students and staff cheered, danced and shared their school spirit as a

reminder that we are all in this together. We will not let the pandemic break our spirit or our bond. While cohorting is keeping us apart, we are bonded by our love for our amazing school community and nothing can break that. St. Agnes spirit is ALIVE and WELL!!

MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) is a computer-adaptive skills assessment that provides parents and

teachers with metrics to measure a student’s growth and progress. The MAP test is adaptive meaning that the

computer allows for test questions to adapt to an individual’s skill level. The test covers reading, language

and mathematics and helps teachers determine what skills need to be taught and how to best group children in the

classroom. It also helps students set goals for improvement.

St. Agnes 1st -5th grade students will be taking MAP tests beginning September 14th – September 22. We ask that you

not schedule appointments during your child’s scheduled testing time. If you have a need for your child to be gone,

please contact the classroom teacher to attain their individual test schedule and work to avoid these times.

Classroom News………... Kindergarten Class By Teri Ramirez

Our first couple of weeks in kindergarten were a success! The boys and girls have done a great job at adjusting to our daily routine and to all the new rules. We have been working on getting to know the rules, learning about our new friends, and all the people who work in the building. In the coming weeks, we will be working on learning sight words, learning to write our names correctly and learning about different manipulatives in math. In religion, we are learning how to make the sign of the cross, and about all the wonderful gifts that God has given us. In science, we will be learning about our fives senses and push and pull. Teaching kindergarten is very rewarding for me, and I love every minute of it! The students make me smile, and every day brings something new and exciting. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to teach here at St. Agnes, and I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!

Third Grade Class By Amanda Brill

Welcome to Third Grade!

The past month has been fun-filled, but busy! We have been actively getting to know the routines and procedures of being upstairs with the big kids here at St. Agnes! We had so much fun on our first day of school. It can be scary heading upstairs, but we are doing just fine now!

Academically we are learning about communities in social studies, and how we can contribute back to the community we live in. In math, we are reviewing how to read charts, calendars, and how we solve problems using lists, and logic. We are getting started with learning the much-loved cursive handwriting. The kids are excited to really take off and learn

how to fully read and write in cursive this year!

We are just about fully adapted to the big changes this school year has brought on. We have come to realize that wearing masks really is not all that bad, but we do love our mask breaks at recess and lunch! It never ceases to amaze me how resilient children are! I am so excited for this school year. This is a great group of kids, and I can’t wait to see them change and mature as third graders!
