There are two ways to connect Morse key to PC. Famous and Easy one is buy a DB9 to USB converter and connect it to PC and second one is to hack the optical mouse (Homebrewed). Optical mouse are easily available and are very cheap (65 or even less) as compared to DB9 to USB converter. Moreover, optical mouse are easily available everywhere. 1. TOOLS & MATERIAL REQUIRED-

TOOLS REQUIRED –

1. Wire Cutter & Stripper

2. Soldering Iron

3. Screw Driver

4. Scissor / Blade

5. Multimeter

MATERIAL REQUIRED-

1. Soldering Wire

2. USB Mouse

3. Bread Board

4. Electrical Tape / Duct Tape

5. Multipurpose P.C.B.

6. Two L.E.D’s (Optional)

7. Resistor 12 (Optional)

8. Morse Key

9. Sticky Note

2. STEPWISE PROCEDURE-

Step 1-

Buy a new mouse or find an old one which has at least a single button working (Right or left button).

Step 2-

Open the mouse carefully separate bottom part, top part and the circuit (PCB).

Step 3-

Locate micro-buttons on the PCB (Generally they are located in front side of the mouse)

Also locate the red colored LED.

Step 4-

Connect 3 wires

1. On one terminal of the micro button

2. One to another terminal of the micro button

3. On Positive terminal of the red light

Step 5-

Close the mouse carefully and screw back it.

Now connect the mouse to your PC

Connect wires 1 and 3 (from terminal of micro-button) if you can see the left click menu, it is working.

Step 6-

You may connect a small circuit with 2 LED’s and a resistor in series and connect it with wire from

positive terminal of red mouse LED.

Connect Negative terminal of micro-button with common (C) in morse key.

Connect other wire from micro-button to normally open (NO) of the morse key.

Connect the negative wire from LED circuit to normally closed (NC) of the morse key.

3. SOME TIPS-

1. You can use central click button too if both left and right buttons aren’t working.

2. Connecting 2 LED’s externally is optional.

3. Make sure you stick a sticky Note or some non-transparent tape or some paper under the mouse so

that the cursor freezes and does not move. 4 .You may use bread board before making permanent connections.
