Installation

Internal O�set Clay Pot Adaptor

All connecting adaptors from Mi-Flues are designed for a quick andeasy installation when a �exible �ue liner is not being used.Connecting manufactured to ensure a trouble free use for yearsahead.

Connecting adaptors are suitable for use on solid fuel appliances.They may also be used on gas and oil, providing it is recommendedby the speci�c appliance manufacturer.

For the best results and to ensure years of trouble free use it isadvisable to make sure the chimney is adequately cleaned and�t for purpose prior to any installation of a connecting adaptorfeatured in this brochure.

External Clay Pot Adaptor

Installation of an Internal Clay Pot Adaptor

The clay end of the adaptor is tapered to allow the adaptor to bepushed (knocked) up the inside of the clay liner. Clay liners are neverperfectly symetrical, so this allows the adaptor to mold itself insidethe liner.

To �nish o� with Fire Cement and Fire Rope to make a good sealaround the clay liner.

The connecting pipe can then be placed over the spigot of theadaptor.

Again �nish o� with Fire Cement and/or Fire Rope to make a goodquality seal.

Installation of an External Clay Pot Adaptor

Place the large end of the clay adaptor over the protruding clayliner - make sure the adaptor covers at least 50mm of the clay linerall the way around.

Becauase clay liners are never perfectly symetrical you will have toseal the gap between the adaptor and clay liner with with FireCement and / or Fire Rope to make a good seal.

The single wall pipe can then be placed over the spigot of theadaptor.

Again �nish o� with Fire Cement and/or Fire Rope to make aquality good seal.

Clay Pot Adaptor Kits

Adaptor kits have everything an installer needs to complete aninstallation by using specially developed and high versatile parts.The kits allow an installation from either a 125mm or 150mmdiameter appliance to a 200mm clay pot lined chimney.

Each kit consists of a Clay Adaptor, and extended 45° or 90° bendand a 250mm telescopic length.

Please note: The 250mm section of the kit is not suitable for solidfuel applications due to it exceeding the 150mm maximumhorizontal run as per building regulations.

The 250mm telescopic length can only be used to increase thehorizontal distance from 150mm to the dimensions listed underthe X min and X max as shown below when recommended by theappliance manufacturer.

Installation of a Clay Pot Adaptor Kit

In the case of a full clay adaptor kit being installed, �t the clay adaptorsection as described on the previous page (Installation of Internal ClayAdaptor). The bend section and adjustable section included in the kitare designed to �t telescopically over each other. The bend sectionmust be �tted to the clay adaptor section and then connected to theappliance using the adjustable section, ensuring that the overlapbetween section must not be less than 50mm. (Note current BuildingRegulations part J list a maximum horizontal distance of 150mm on asolid fuel application). A 90° bend can be assumed to be equal to2 x 45° bends. All joints should then be sealed using �re cement and/orsealant (rated to 1000°C).
