Upcoming EventsMission u 2017 - For participants, Mission u is an opportunity to study current issues impacting society with particular attention to the responsibilities of women in fulfilling the mission work of the church. Conference events are open to members and non-members of United Methodist Women. This three-day weekend program is July 14-16. It will be held in downtown St. Cloud at the Kelly Inn, 100 4th Ave S. Check-in and registration will be in the hotel lobby from 10 am - 1:30 pm Friday, July 14th. There is free parking and an area to keep luggage until rooms are ready. Handicapped accessible rooms are available. The program begins with lunch at 11:30 am on Friday. The weekend concludes by 4:00 pm on Sunday. Mission studies are offered each year - a spiritual growth, topical and geographical study. These studies motivate, inform and enrich commitment to global ministry. This year the topics are:

Spiritual Growth: Living as a Covenant Community - This study examines major covenants throughout the Bible and what they reveal about God’s character and eternal love for us. Discover that covenantal living calls us to acts of mercy and justice, not only with those in our community, but with all - regardless of social, political, financial or religious standing.

Topical Issue: Climate Justice, a Call to Hope and Justice will deepen an understanding and awareness of climate change and its impact on God’s creation. The study highlights justice, peace, and integrity of creation as important dimensions of partnering in God’s mission today.

Geographic: Missionary Conferences of the U.S. - This study tells the stories of three missionary conferences, The Alaska United Methodist Conference, Red Bird Missionary Conference and the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference. Learn how and why each was founded and how they add to the richness of the United Methodist Connection in the United States. Rev. Lyndy Zabel will be one of the study leaders.

More information is available at www.mnconfumw.com. Janet Ewing and Linda Straub will be attending and can help with transportation. To see the study books or if a scholarship is needed, contact Janet, [email protected]. REGISTER online by June 30th at http://bit.ly/2MissionU or by calling Becky Coleman at (612) 724-4817. Lodging and meals per person fees: $395; Private room: $495; Commuter (program and lunch only): $265.

Conference UMW Annual Gathering Saturday, October 7th - Vineyard United Methodist Church in Hutchinson will be the host when guest speaker Bishop Bruce Ough shares information about “A Way Forward.” This is a special commission looking at the challenges the UMC faces on LBGTQ as well as other cultural differences. Lindsey will start work the first week of May and her first Sunday at The Well will be May 14th. Lindsey will be going with the middle school students on their mission trip to Duluth in July. She has previously scheduled trip-of-a-lifetime to Greece in late June.

Lindsey has a Masters Degree in Children, Youth and Family from Luther Northwestern Seminary. She is currently serving at Wesley United Methodist Church in Winona, MN.

Here are some words from Lindsey:My name is Lindsey Nuehring. I have been doing youth ministry for 13 years throughout Minnesota. I love Jesus, young people, music and coffee. I enjoy finding many different ways to connect with all different kinds of people. Ministry for me always features relationships, fun, and service.

I am so excited to be joining the team at The Well! I am a huge believer in God’s call and timing and throughout the interview process, have felt very strongly that this was where God has called me. I have known this congregation for years and have cheered from afar as you have taken some big brave steps to truly live out our calling to make disciples. I am so eager to explore the possibilities of ministry with young people in your midst.

YOUTH MINISTRIESCONFIRMATION SUNDAYThere are several young people confirming their faith on May 7th! They will come before their church community, family and friends to confirm the vows that were made for them at the time of their baptism. Each is confirming their desire to continue on their journey of faith, as followers of Jesus.

Please join us in encouraging and supporting these young people by welcoming them and including them into the body of Christ as they make this decision for themselves! Invite them to worship, Bible study and small groups. Encourage them to be involved in the full life of the church, to serve, live and grow in God’s love and service as we all continue our faith journeys together.

It has been a blessing and a privilege to teach and spend time with each of these young people, and we are grateful to each of them, their parents and families, and to their mentors who have committed their time in such a special way! Each of you are a blessing to us and to the world.

In Christ, Pastor Karen Evenson and Pastor Greg Strunk

SEND...Disciples to serve and spread the love of Jesus

ONE THING FOR MAYFor the month of May, the One Thing project will be to provide bikes and bike accessories for adults and children serviced by The Table. As a ministry of Mission River, The Table provides hot meals and a space for the community to come and support each other by collecting Blessing Items to share with those in need. Faith UMC in Farmington is one of the locations that opens their doors to host these events.

You can donate adult and children’s helmets, bicycle locks, tire pumps, patch kits, reflective vests, lights, reflectors, bike seats and 20” black and white tires. New or used bikes (in working condition) are also be appreciated. Smaller items will be accepted at the Rosemount and Apple Valley campuses. To donate larger items, please contact Debra Morales to make arrangements, [email protected]. Items such as bikes and tires cannot be housed at either campus. Thank you for your generosity!

KALEIDOSCOPEThe Kaleidoscope Inclusive Ministries Team of The Well would like to thank all the church volunteers who helped to make the 3rd Annual Shamrock Ball an overwhelming success. Twenty-eight students with disabilities promenaded and danced away the evening of April 21st. Students of the National Honor Society of Rosemount High School co-hosted with The Well and were wonderful decorators, nail and makeup artists and kind, caring escorts. The Kaleidoscope Inclusive Ministries would like to thank Cub Foods for providing the corsages and boutonnieres for our special guests, Small Cakes for their incredible mini cupcakes, Marsha Jones, formal photographer, who generously donated her services and also to the anonymous National Honor Society parent who made it possible for all the students to enjoy delicious shaved ice. Without the support of the whole church, this event would not have happened. It was a night that the students and volunteers will remember for a long time.

Carnivale! is a respite care program for families with children with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Two programs are offered: Children with disabilities from ages 2-21, and their siblings ages 2-7, are eligible for the main program. Siblings ages 8-11, may participate in our Carnivale! Plus program. New families are welcome to apply. An application form can be found under the Send/Kaleidoscope/Carnivale tabs on the church’s website at www.thewellmn.church. The next Carnivale! is May 19th.

Having children in worship is important. After signing in, children in Kindergarten — 5th grade participate at the beginning of the service and then are dismissed to go to KidZone. Parents may pick up their children in the “Attic” (Rosemount) or Elementary theater room (Apple Valley) after the service. Guests with children are invited to go with your child to meet the KidZone leader.

NURSERY/PRE-K ON SUNDAYSChildren aged 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten have their own place to play and learn about God’s love. At both campuses, throughout the year, the rooms are open and staffed during worship. All volunteers and leaders are screened, trained and supervised. A security process is in place so parents can rest assured that their child is well cared for.

PARENTS’ MORNING OUT (PMO)The Well offers childcare on Wednesday mornings at the Rosemount campus. Enjoy some alone time while your children are well taken care of in our infant and toddler nurseries. Age appropriate snacks and activities will be planned. Space is Limited!
