NASSSA Venture Dorm 2016 An Entrepreneurial Extravaganza
A final "Pitch event" was held at the Mawson Centre, on Wednesday 28th September at 7pm. We thankthe City of Salisbury, Twelve25 and New Venture Institute at Flinders University for their support of thisprogram. The 8 teams from 7 schools presented their "Pitch" to judges: Karlene Maywald, Former South Australian water security minister
Prof Martin Westwell, Strategic Professor, Science Education in 21st Century, Flinders University Laki Kondylas, Director, Economic Plan for Northern Adelaide Attending and making the presentation to winners was Hon Zoe Bettison, Minister for Communities &Social Inclusion| Minister for Social Housing | Minister for the Status of Women , Minister for MulticulturalAffairs | Minister for Ageing | Minister for Youth | Minister for Volunteers NASSSA as an Alliance of 11 public schools in northern Adelaide supported development of enterpriseskills in students in this program. In collaboration with New Venture Institute it was an example of anintensive, extra-curricular opportunity which these students engaged with, and which will contribute totheir SACE. Principals and mentor teachers are to be commended for their commitment, both time andfinancial, to enable the outcomes we saw. Also Flinders University’s New Venture Institute are to becongratulated for providing the program, normally provided to University students, to our northernsuburbs secondary students. Winners were "I F" (Interchangeable Frames) from Para Hills High School Runners Up were "Make Me Up" from Paralowie R-12 School Atiu Madut from Mark Oliphant College took out the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. Congratulations to all teams and thanks to the mentor teachers!

We are now opening up our Monday Work Readiness program to any year 12 whowould like assistance to apply for work or training, or if they are sĕll not sure whatthey want to do. Staff will be available to assist students with their individual needs.

Workplace Learning Proceduresand Information Booklets
Schools should hopefully have received booklets for students,parents/ carers & workplace providers for use with studentsinvolved in work experience or structured workplace learning. A session has been run for NASSSA VET Leaders, CareerAdvisors and Work placement organisers. An online program is being developed to support schools inproviding consistent training to young people as required by theProcedures, prior to any placements.
