1 Configuration switch inside the reading head1.1 General
The configuration of the reading head can be changed by the DIL switchS1, which is located inside the reading head. S1 is a DIP switch with 4 sin-gle switch positions.
figure 1.1: Position of the configuration switch S1To change the switches, the housing of the reading head must be opened.Therefore screw up the four housing screws from the bottom side.

1.2 Changing of the output code
Example:• Encoding has changed from Binary into Gray:
Change designation WCS3B-LS310 into WCS3B-311!
1.3 Output of soiled optics warningThe warning about soiled optics is transmit-ted in the bit 24 of the SSI protocol. The soi-ling indication bit is enabled by default(factory setting).

1.4 Re-assembly after configurationFor re-assembly after the configuration, close the hosing and fix the fourscrews with a torque of 1.0 Nn.

2 Configuration switch on the integrated display module(Reading head with option -D)
2.1 GeneralThe WCS3B reading head can be equipped (also later on, at factory) withan optional display module. This display shows during movement of thereading head the current position value and, if it happens, an error code. Ifthe reading head does not move for longer than 15 seconds, then the dis-play will show additional diagnostics data (see also WCS catalogue).For viewing the displayed values also in upright mounted position of thereading head, the orientation of the displayed values can be rotatedaround 180° by the DIP switch S1D on the display circuit board.
