paint.

● Successful scale up to produce crystalline itaconic acid (IA) from C6
wheat straw pulp
● Successful application of cellulosic IA in white paint.
● High yield and productivity in the pilot fermentation: 0.38 g/g and in 78% of
the time.
● The crystallization is robust and high crystal purities are obtained (no
negative effects identified when using wheat straw pulp as feedstock)
● Room for optimization in recovery/purification (hardware and process)
● The produced paint is of good quality. Compared to the conventional paint
it reveals improved opacity and reflection and is biobased and phthalic
anhydride free.
