Prayer for the Week I grieve for you,

O Mary most sorrowful, in the affliction of your tender

heart at the prophecy of the holy and aged Simeon. Dear Mother, by your heart so afflicted, obtain for me the virtue of humility and

the gift of the holy fear of God. Hail Mary…

Commitment Weekend: Annual Diocesan Appeal Donate this weekend using the provided envelopes or go online to bit.ly/ADADonate In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us that when we receive a child, it is then that we receive Jesus. Jesus calls us to recognize and identify the fig-urative children in our lives. Who are the most in need of help? Where are those people who rely on the care of others to have their needs met? When we reach out to those who are helpless, who cry out in need, we are receiving Jesus into our hearts with love and self-lessness. The Annual Diocesan Appeal inspires us to take up this call to generosity and to support the many programs that serve people throughout North Central Texas. When we make this commitment, we are responding in gratitude for our blessings. Let us give thanks! As we strive for 100 percent participation toward our parish goal of $156,700, please prayerfully consider what your family will donate to support the needs of others. To learn more, please visit bit.ly/ADADonate.

UPCOMING EVENTS

WEEKLY CALENDAR September 19-26, 2021

Women of St. Philip Kick-off Meeting Monday, September 27, 7 PM in the CLC "Come, and you will see" (John 1:39)

Are you a Woman of St Philip's who wants to meet and socialize with other faithful and faith-filled women? Do you have a desire to serve our church and our community? Then, COME and SEE at our kickoff meeting on Monday, September 27. Sue Ogle, President of Haitian Pilgrims will be our guest speaker. Come and learn more about this wonderful organization which was founded by St. Philip parishioners more than 20 years ago. Come and hear about how this program has helped our sister parish, St. Therese in Boileau, Haiti. Haitian Pilgrims has helped by building a medical clinic, digging clean water wells, and launching a micro-credit program for farmers. COME and HEAR more!

Sue’s talk is timely as our brothers and sisters in Boileau face the worst situation the South of Haiti has experienced. 90% of the homes in Boi-leau have been destroyed leaving most families sleeping on the ground unprotected from the weather.

Women of St. Philip’s will be raising funds to buy tents for the St. Therese parishioners. WSP will match up to $1,500 of money that is collected. COME and BE with the Women of St Philip's at our kick-off meeting: SEE you there!

Our College/Young Adult group is looking to offer a small group for those in their 30s. Are you in your 30s and looking for a group for community and Faith learning?

Scan this QR code to let us know and we’ll be in contact with you soon!

Please invite young men to experience what life is like at St. Joseph’s Seminary with others who are discerning a call to the priesthood. Reserve your spot today at [email protected]

Hurricane Ida and Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux Emergency Collection Weekend of September 25/26 The people of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux have recently suffered immense devastation caused by Hurricane Ida to their property and lives. Bishop Shelton J. Fabre reports that of their 39 parishes, 36 have suffered damage to their church buildings. Ad-ditionally, Catholic Charities and other Catholic or-ganizations in that diocese are providing relief efforts to thousands of families, including food, water and shelter. They are in urgent need of assistance.

At the request of Bishop Olson, all parishes in the Diocese of Fort Worth will take up a special collection the weekend of September 25-26 to provide immedi-ate assistance for those affected by Hurricane Ida in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux. Your gifts will go directly to bring relief to the parishioners of this dio-cese. On behalf of Bishop Fabre and the priests, reli-gious, and lay leadership of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, thank you for your charitable generosity and expression of solidarity among God’s people.

Please generously support this collection at Masses or online at stphilipcc.weshareonline.org For more information on the assistance being provided by the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux to victims of Hurricane Ida, please visit https://htdiocese.org/

The Seven Sorrows of Mary Devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows became a standard devotion in the Church around the 14th century. It was revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden (1303-1373) that devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary's Seven Sorrows would bring great signal graces. The devotion consists in praying seven Hail Marys while medi-tating on the Seven Sorrows of Mary. Mary, in a unique way, willingly suffered alongside her Divine Son as He gave His life to save the world, and she felt the bitterness of His Passion as only a mother can. This devotion is especially remembered during September, the Month of Our Lady of Sorrows (the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is September 15th), and during the season of Lent. Our Lady also made seven promises for those who honor her daily by meditating on her seven sorrows:

The Seven Promises of Our Lady to St. Bridget: · I will grant peace to their families. · They will be enlightened about the divine mysteries. · I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in

their work. · I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not op-

pose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.

· I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.

· I will visibly help them at the moment of their death, they will see the face of their Mother.

· I have obtained from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.
