CONFERENCES ATTENDED
ASME NEWSLETTER | September 2012
Annual Scienfic Meeng 2012 by Claire Cunningham
Don’t forget about the Chair’s
Challenge 2012!
Many of you picked up a Miller’s
Pyramid© recently at one of the
events we a)ended to use as a
teaching tool for didacc
workshops.
Email us at [email protected]
with an image of you using the
ASME Miller’s Pyramid© in your
teaching by Monday 1st October
2012.
The most innovave and
unusual entry will be offered free
registraon for the 2013 ASM in
Edinburgh—a prize worth around
£425!
A4er a hecc Fesval me in Edinburgh and
the thrill of the Olympics and Paralympics,
our ASM seems a lifeme ago.
Having started in the role of Communicaon
and Markeng Officer at ASME in late June, I
was plunged right in at the deep end when it
came to a)ending the ASM. It was a busy
few days but very producve: pu<ng faces
to names; gaining be)er understanding of
ASME and each of the Special Interest
Groups.
The Meeng was well a)ended and
feedback was extremely posive, especially
with regards to the quality of the workshops
and the research presented. Other posive
feedback included “holding the welcome
drinks in the museum was inspired.” Our
App was also well received as it gave you
the opportunity to view the programme and
inerary at the touch of a bu)on.
Technology had a strong presence through-
out the Meeng from the Wi-Fi availability
and focus on social media to our sharp
increase in Twi)er followers.
This reflects the fact that Medical Educaon
and Social Media do go hand in hand. If you
haven't followed us
yet, please do
@asmeofficial.
The ASM also offered
us the opportunity to
celebrate our 55th Anniversary. This was
marked by a special cake at the Chair’s
Drinks Recepon held on the Tuesday night.
I look forward to next year’s Meeng at
Edinburgh Napier University and hope to see
you there!

SOCIAL MEDIA
There are now many ways in which you can interact with the ASME
Community. We have pages on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twi)er and will be
creang a You Tube Channel also.
Our Twi)er followers have been steadily increasing due to the fact that there is
a strong medical educaon presence within this medium. To find us, please
search for ‘asmeofficial’. Help us to create a community online where we are
all accessible and can support each other.
Our SIGs are also using Twi)er to communicate, please use the following
hashtags during discussions: #JASME and #TASME.
AMEE 2012
We were in Lyon in August for AMEE 2012
where demand for the Miller’s Pyramid©
was outstripping supply. It was a good
conference offering us plenty of
opportunity to network with our
members and potenal members.
Scosh Clinical Skills Network
We also recently a)ended the SCSN
conference in Edinburgh. This event gave
us the opportunity to spread the word
about ASME and meet more of our
members.
AAMC 2012
We will be a)ending the AAMC in San
Francisco in November, please come and
