Presentation Title: Source apportionment of the redox activity of urban fine particulate matter in Athens, Greece. Costantinous Sioutas is the Fred champion professor of civil and environmental engineering department at USC. His area of expertise includes development of several particle sampling technologies that have enabled the assessment of the relative toxicity of particulate matters using realistic atmospheres in in-vivo and in-vitro exposure studies funded by US EPA, NIH, and CARB in Southern California. Findings from his work have also been extensively used in the revision of US EPA national air quality standards on particulate matters.

Presentation Title: Geochemical modeling in solving some environmental problems (pollution of mining regions, radioactive wastes storage). Olga L. Gaskova is a leading staff scientist at the Sobolev Institute of Geology and Mineralogy SB RAS (Novosibirsk). She has completed her PhD in geochemistry of sulfide ore formation (experimental and modeling study) in 1991 and D.Scs. in the environmental geochemistry of mine-related regions in 2005. She has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals. Since 2003 she gives lectures on “Methods of calculation of minerals equilibria” at the Novosibirsk State University. She is an expert of the Russian Science Foundations and reviewer of international journals (Environmental Earth Sciences, Journal of Geochemical Exploration).

Presentation Title: Monitoring Air Pollution of Black Cloud Using GIS Analysis in Egypt. Arafa Nagy El- Naggar is an Egyptian environmental specialist with nearly 16 years of experience in environmental pollution. He has worked as environmental specialist and manager of planning unit in Ministry of Environment, Egypt. He is responsible for environmental planning and reporting. Great back ground in GIS and RS. He has a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biology, M.Sc. in mosquitoes and water parameters and Ph.D. in using GIS and RS in water quality monitoring. He has published 10 researchers and many reports in environmental pollution.

Presentation Title: Evaluation of the Levels of Haloacetic acids in Zeftta drinking water plant, Gharbyia Governorate, Egypt. Mr. Hesham has completed his M.Sc from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt and started his Ph.D studies at the same University.

Presentation Title: Co-occurrence of oxidation and adsorption for arsenite removal from groundwater using nano MnO2 loaded laterite composite material. Dr. Sukha Ranjan Samadder has his expertise in the field of Remote sensing and GIS. With his keen interest, he has used GIS tools in evaluating the spatial distribution pattern of arsenic in West Bengal. His study on life expectancy in arsenic affected population has helped the researchers and policy makers to prioritise the management options. Later, he started working on the remediation aspect of arsenic. He has already guided 4 M. Tech and 1 Ph. D student in the field of arsenic remediation. He has already published research papers in journals of international repute on this theme. Dr. Samadder is also well versed in LCA studies.

Presentation Title: Determination of particulate matter build-up in near-road ambient air due to non-traffic related entities. Dr. Suresh Pandian Elumalai has his expertise in the field of Vehicular emission modeling and air pollution dispersion studies. With his keen interest, he has used semi-empirical box model in evaluating the traffic emission at intersections in typical Indian roads where conditions are heterogeneous. His study on emissions due to shared auto rickshaws and speed humps in Indian roads has helped the researchers and policy makers to priorities the traffic management options. Later, he started working on the rain water pH levels due to acid causing gases and particulate matter and urban heat island intensity. He has already guided 15 M.Tech and 5 Ph.D students in the field of air pollution due to vehicular emission and impacts on rainwater and plants.

He has successfully managed/assessed environmental projects for UNEP/SSC in Costa Rica, Bhutan and Benin which has improved biodiversity management in those countries as well as in the oil and gas industries to improve their corporate environmental performance. Osegbue, is a Medical Social Worker-Healthcare haemoglobinopathy, and a trained genetic counselor with over 15 years of practice. He is actively engaged in the work with grassroots, urban and rural community-based non-governmental, non-profit patient/parent support groups/advocacy health organizations. Anthony is expertise and passion center mainly on genetic counseling, public health education and evaluation of clients especially persons and families living with sickle cell disorders and sudden infant death syndrome. His research project includes questionnaire-based interviews, qualitative studies and spirometry tests with current field engagement to measure level of pollution using particulate matters and carbon monoxide aiming to see correlation with lung function.
