CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The NBA-SLP Organising Committee, in partnership with the Ondo State Government are delighted to bring to Akure the 2019 Edition of the Nigeria Bar Association-Section on Legal Practice.

The theme of this year’s Conference is “Value Added Legal Practice”. The Conference will critically identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to a value-added legal practice and examine how legal practitioners can improve the quality of legal services, attract clients and increase revenue.

The Conference will also examine several areas of legal practice in Nigeria including; the future of legal services in Nigeria, a lawyer’s duty of disclosure in combating money laundering and tax evasion, garnishee proceedings, probate practice, labour law and pertinent issues relating to justice reform.

There is a glaring need to improve the knowledge base, prowess and service delivery of legal practitioner across the Country. What are the remote and looming threats and opportunities in the face of the Nigerian Legal Practice? Our Judicial Systems needs reformations, what strategies can stakeholders adopt to turn the tide towards efficient and effective justice delivery. How can the thriving Legal Practitioner protect their reputation from public scrutiny by tax disclosure? What are the pitfalls of the Superior Courts of record decisions with respect to Garnishee Proceedings and what is the way forward? How can the Legal Practitioner harness Probate practice as a revenue booster? We intend to provide answers to these questions and many more at the NBA-SLP 2019.

The 2019 Conference will attract an eminent faculty of distinguished legal practitioners, members of the judiciary, academia, subject matter experts, high level government functionaries and corporate executives to share their knowledge, expertise and experience with participants and other stakeholders at the Conference.

NBA-SLP 2019

The NBA-SLP is an esteemed organisation which encourages specialised legal practice for all Nigerian lawyers and law firms towards value optimisation and sustainability.

The 2019 NBA-SLP Conference will build on the success of the previous conference held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State (2018). The NBA-SLP has attracted a large number of delegates drawn from key sectors of Nigeria’s economy.
