YUNMUN XXVIII GENERAL INFORMATION
BADGES AND PLACARDS
Upon registration, each delegate will receive a conference badge with the delegate’s name, country and committee. These badges must be worn by all delegates throughout the conference. You will need the badges not only in the committee sessions but also within the hotel as identification.
• Badges may not be altered, defaced, decorated, forged or tampered with in any way.
• For name badge changes, please go to the YUNMUN administrative table in the hotel lobby.
• Trading of badges among delegates is strictly prohibited.
• Borrowing and lending of badges is strictly prohibited.
• Placards may not be defaced and the letters may not be removed. The conference coordinator reserves the right to expel a student or their entire school if a placard is tampered with in any way.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
EMTs are on call and on the premises at all times during the conference. Details and contact information will be provided upon arrival.
RULES CONCERNING STAY AT THE HOTEL
We ask for your cooperation in maintaining order, both in and out of committee sessions, so that we can provide an educational and safe environment. Please be courteous to the hotel staff and other hotel guests by observing the following rules:
• Delegates are required to be in their hotel rooms by all curfews, and remain there. After curfew all hallways must be empty and quiet. Chaperones will be asked to remain on duty until all delegates have returned to their rooms, and will be called to return any delegate violating curfew to his/her room. Any delegate found in the halls after curfew may be dismissed from the conference.
• Smoking and alcohol consumption will not be tolerated. Delegates possessing or using these items will be expelled from the conference immediately.
• Individuals will be held financially responsible for vandalism and/or damage found to their rooms and elsewhere.
• Specific hotel floors will be designated for a single gender. Under no circumstances may a member of the opposite gender be on those floors.
• Delegates are not permitted to use the hotel’s restaurant, bar or pool.
• The hotel reserves the right to expel the delegates for excessive noise or other disruptions, which impact upon the well-being of other hotel guests.
Please cooperate with YU and the hotel in ensuring a successful conference. Yeshiva University reserves the right to immediately expel delegates from both the conference and the hotel due to behavior deemed unacceptable. Serious infractions on the part of a single delegate will result in dismissal from the conference of individuals involved, and may disqualify one’s delegation from winning an award.
YUNMUN and The Stamford Plaza Hotel are not responsible for belongings left in guest rooms or in meetings rooms. Delegates are encouraged to place valuables in hotel safe deposit boxes.
AWARDS
Awards will be presented in recognition of outstanding delegates and delegation preparation. Recipients will be those delegates who submitted topic papers and best solved international problems, while maintaining the integrity of their national interests. Criteria used to determine awards include the following: knowledge and representation of the nation’s interests and policies, depth of understanding of the committee’s diplomatic protocol, skill and effectiveness in formal and informal debate, and ability to work with and persuade other delegates through reasoned argument.
DRESS CODE
The dress code for all delegates is business attire and must conform to Jewish standards of modesty (tzniut).
Women: Women should wear skirts or dresses that reach the knee and must wear sleeves at all times.
Men: Men should wear a suit or jacket and dress pants with a shirt and tie, and must wear a kippah at all times. No sneakers or jeans will be permitted. Any delegate not dressed appropriately will be asked to return to his/her hotel room to change. The dress code applies not only to committee sessions, but to the entire conference.
POLICY ON VISITORS
It has come to our attention that some students from outside of the Tri-State area would like to have relatives from the New York area visit them during YUNMUN. Prior to a guest’s arrival, delegates must inform a Yeshiva University staff member of the visit, and must make sure that the visitor signs in with this staff member at the YUNMUN registration table upon arrival. Visitors may visit with the following conditions:
• The delegate being visited must be from outside the Tri-State area.
• The visitors must be relatives.
• Friends (from camps, summer and youth group programs) may not visit.
• Visitors may only meet in common areas of the hotel. They may not go to delegate rooms under any circumstances.
• Visitors may only visit during breaks.
• Delegates may not leave the hotel campus at any time.
POLICY ON CARS
No delegate may have a car at YUNMUN at any time.
FACULTY LOUNGE
The Faculty Lounge will be located in the upper gazebo throughout the conference. Delegates are not permitted in this lounge.
