Winning the future of the Enterprise with Microsoft’s Cloud OS

Arun Ulagaratchagan, Server & Tools Business Group Lead, Asia Pacific, Microsoft

It’s a new day in IT. There are more applications, more devices, and now, more data than ever – all driven by the rise of cloud computing and the use of cloud services. With these technologies playing an ever present role in businesses, how can IT drive more efficiency and deliver new forms of value? Microsoft’s answer is the Cloud OS. Big data. Cloud. Bring your own device. All of these converging technology trends demand a response from IT. But more importantly, these are real opportunities for IT to deliver more efficiencies and new value. Opportunities to reduce the cost and complexity of running datacentres at scale. To draw insights from any data. To support employees wherever they work across whatever device. To create new business applications and transform existing ones. Microsoft’s approach allows IT to get all the benefits of scale, speed, and agility while still protecting existing investments. This means IT can now rapidly build and deploy applications, flexibly manage IT services, and support real-time analytics across all forms of data.

The $260 billion Australian retail sector, which accounts for around 18% of Australia’s economic output is also being coveted by foreign competitors, who are skilled at their speed bringing products to market and price competitiveness from economies of scale. The only way forward for Australian retailers is embrace the revolution and bring new technologies into their stores and offer online as well as omni-channel experience.

Learn about the opportunity to lead your customers in this digital transformation, where the new consumer is disrupting, and the growth strategy for innovative retailers is dependent on navigating the complex and rapidly-changing landscape of all emerging digital technologies and tools.

Cloud Solutions in Government: Removing barriers to selling cloud solutions in Government

Brad Coughlan, Industry Market Development Manager, Government, Microsoft Australia

This session will cover: the market opportunity for cloud in government; the various government cloud strategies around Australia; why government customers should consider Microsoft’s cloud offerings over our competitors; addressing the most common cloud objections; and practical tools & resources for helping partners to get on the front foot with their government cloud solution conversations.

Financial Services, the engine of growth

Jame Bibby, Solution Specialist, Microsoft Australia

Despite the media focus on mining, Financial Services remains the single largest contributor to Australia’s GDP at around 11% of output or 135 billion dollars. With our 4 main banks all ranked in the global top 50, Australia’s financial system remains on solid footing. Not only are we sound, we are growing; BCG’s recently released world ranking identified Australia as the top ranked OECD country in 2013 for growth of assets under management. This session will outline our key priorities to leverage this strength to drive growth for our partners across the financial services sector. With a focus on initiatives to help banks both reduce expenses and grow revenue to help sustain profitability into the future, this session will be key to your strategic planning for success in Financial Services for FY14.

Industry & Segment TracksBuild a profitable strategy in a growing and changing education market

Ray Fleming, Industry Market Development Manager, Education, Microsoft Australia

The Australian education market is changing rapidly, with some segments getting more money and decision making powers, whilst others are getting less. Although education customers have often been at the forefront of technology adoption, they have been recently described as “some of the last professionals to adopt technology to change the way they work”. So how can partners help education institutions invest their $3bn IT budgets more effectively? We have invited some of our key customers to speak about how they see their investments in ICT supporting the transformation of their organisations – and what they want from their relationship with Microsoft’s partners.

Mobility in Health

Weis Lu, CTS, Lifehouse Dr Simon Kos, Industry Market Development Manager, Health, Microsoft Australia

The introduction of great mobile devices and readily accessible cloud services to the consumer market has shifted the expectations of our health workforce. A risk, or an opportunity? Join Weis Lu, Clinical Technology Specialist from greenfield cancer hospital Lifehouse, and Microsoft’s health IMDM Simon Kos, as we explore this transformational phenomenon:

• What is the emerging role of mobile devices in health?

• How are the lines between work and personal time blurring?

• How can organisations balance the opportunities and risks created by mobility?

• What are the future possibilities in a world of ubiquitous connectivity and cloud services?

Business Solutions in Government: An introduction to the CityNext campaign

Brad Coughlan, Industry Market Development Manager, Government, Microsoft Australia

The Microsoft vision of connected data, cloud services, devices and apps creates new economic opportunities for cities and partners. Come and learn about joint go-to-market strategies, how to help your customers harness new technology around the eight CityNext solution areas, and how best to prepare for capitalising on this market opportunity in Australia.

Cloud Computing in the Resources Sector

John Bradley, Industry Market Development Manager, Microsoft Australia

The acceptance of “virtualisation of computing” and availability of “4G wireless” is driving the Resources Industry to now consider cloud computing to be a viable option.

Examples of early adoption include “cloud burst HPC”, “Collaboration” and “Enterprise Asset Management”. In the Resources sector the business phases of Exploration, Establishment, Operation and Expansion all have particular business requirements that make cloud computing attractive. In the Power & Utilities industry the rapid adoption of “cloud computing” is also being embraced. A phased hybrid approach to cloud computing is predicted. The closer to the “control layer” the further from the cloud. Closer to the “information layer” the closer to the cloud.

Bottom Line: – why build, maintain & support a piece of IT infrastructure when it may be viable to consume the application via the cloud.

Nokia’s mission is simple: Connecting People. Our goal is to build great mobile products that enable billions of people worldwide to enjoy more of what life has to offer. Our challenge is to achieve this in an increasingly dynamic and competitive environment.

The Nokia-Microsoft partnership brings together two global businesses with highly complementary sets of assets and competencies. But what will it actually mean for Nokia smartphone products?

First and foremost, Nokia is adopting Windows Phone as its primary smartphone platform. Working with Microsoft, we’ll help to drive and define the future of the platform by leveraging our expertise in hardware optimisation, software customisation, and language support.

Nokia and Microsoft are also combining services assets to drive innovation. Nokia Maps, for example, will soon be at the heart of key Microsoft assets such as Bing and AdCenter, and Nokia’s application and content store will be integrated into Microsoft Marketplace. Similarly, Microsoft will provide developer tools, making it easier for application developers to leverage Nokia’s global scale.
