Introduction Shri S. H. Kelkar College, Devgad (“College”) identified Soft Skills development as a need for its deserving students across Graduation & Post-Graduation levels. Soft Skills training required to be delivered by experienced consultants over several months during the academic year. Vaishali Manerkar & Jayant Manerkar from JE Group (“Consultants”) got sensitized with the fact that bright students from Sindhudurg region could not get selected in good companies due to their lack of confidence and exposure to the Soft Skills. They approached the College with an objective to improve employability of students within the College through relevant training. During the meetings between senior management of the College & the consultants, both of the parties sensed that they can work together on a training program on soft skills development. The first program of its kind was offered to final year students from BBI and BMS streams. This document provides a report on the Soft Skills Training Program.
Training Program Management Team
The following people played major roles during the entire program design and execution.
1) Dr. Gurudeo T. Parulekar, Principal: Program sponsor & final decision maker for the Training Program.
2) Prof. BalkrishnaTeurwadkar, HoD - Department of Management Studies: Program coordinator, acted as a single point of contact from the College. Responsibilities include enrollment of students & their attendance during training sessions, arrangement of classroom infrastructure, internet access for the Consultant’s laptop, scheduling periodic meetings between the stakeholders and administrative activities related to the training program.
3) Prof. Rashmi Hirlekar, HoD - Department of Banking & Insurance: Program facilitator for TY BBI students. Assist Program Coordinator as per the need.
4) Mrs. Vaishali Manerkar, JE Group: Soft Skills Trainer. Responsibilities include developing the training plan, training delivery, student assessment, creating documents for periodic reviews with the College, submitting documents& reports related to the training program.
5) Mr. Jayant Manerkar, JE Group: Soft Skills Trainer. Responsibilities include developing the training plan, training delivery, student assessment, creating documents for periodic reviews, submitting documents& reports related to the training program.

Overall Execution Process
The following diagram shows end-to-end process followed during the execution of the training program.
1) Proposal Finalization: Discussions between the Consultants & management of the College to finalize the scope, approach, timelines & commercials of the proposed Soft Skills Training Program.
2) Student Meeting: A meeting was conducted with TY BBI & TY BMS students for about 3 hours to explain them necessity of the training program & provide them details about the contents, schedule etc.
3) Parent Meeting: A meeting was conducted with the students who are interested in the training program, their parents, the Consultants, relevant staff members & Principal of the College. Nature of the training program & expected benefits to students were explained. Suggestions from the meeting were incorporated in the training plan. At the end of the meeting, students & parents committed to perform their duties towards this program.
4) Student Enrolment & Work Order: College enrolledinterested students in the training program & collected fees. Consultant fees were finalized by College based on the enrolments & work order was released to the Consultants for the engagement.
5) Develop Training Plan: Consultants prepared a plan for customized training program for the batch of enrolled students. Training calendar was prepared & published for the program.
6) Training Delivery: Training sessions were conducted as per the training calendar. Students attended the training sessions in the College on designated days. In addition to the training sessions, studentswere assigned activities & assignments to be submitted. Consultant used the following methods for teaching.

7) Continuous Assessment: Each student was assessed continuously during the training program through attendance, assignments, participation in activities, etc. Consultants provided feedback to the students periodically & guided them to improve. Additionally, the performance of students was reviewed with senior management of the College periodically.
8) Certifications: Students were given certificates by the College after successfulcompletion of the training program. Additionally, high performing students were rewarded for their achievements.
9) Final Report Submission: A report on the Soft Skills Training Program (this report) was submitted by the Consultants to the College.

In addition to these topics each student appeared for a mock interview of the Job Description of his/her choice. Personalized feedback was given to each student after the interview. A new topic on “Customer Service” was added as the need was identified by the Consultants while delivering the sessions.

Delivery Details
Trainings were delivered in a classroom in the College. During initial weeks, sessions were conducted on every Friday & Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. No sessions were planned during College holidays & exam periods. After few months, extended sessions were scheduled on Sundays & holidays to catch up on the schedule.

Assignments
Assignments were given to student regularly. Students were expected to submit the assignment within a week’s time. Submitted assignments were checked by the Consultants &individual feedback was given to the students. The Consultants also presented overall assignment feedback to the class & suggested ways of improvement. Following is summary of the assignments. Performance Assessment
Each student was continuously assessed during the Training Program. The following parameters and marks are used to evaluate each student.

1) Attendance: Student is given marks based on number of days he/she was present. Formula used is
Marks = (16 – number of absent days).
2) Participation in class: Students were expected to participate in various activities, games conducted during all the sessions. Students were encouraged to volunteer to participate. Up to 6 marks are given based on participation throughout the duration of the training program.
3) Assignments: Assignments submitted by students are evaluated & marks are given to each assignment as follows.
Excellent = 3 marks
Good = 2 marks
Need Improvement = 1 mark
Not submitted = 0 mark
4) Tell news or talk to the class:Students were expected to tell latest news to the class. If the news is narrated in Marathi, the class would translate the news in English. Students were also asked to share their experiences after special occasions like festivals, study tours, DYF, etc. One mark is given if a student completes this activity. One additional marks is given if the student volunteers himself/herself.
5) Mock interview:Students are given up to 16 marks for their performance during the interview. Following aspects were observed during the interview.

At the end of the program, students were requested to provide their feedback about the Training Program. The form has 4 main sections: usefulness of the topics, top-3 achievements of the student, top-3 suggestions from the student, feedback about the trainers. Certificates
All the students who completed the Soft Skills Training Program successfully were awarded with a certificate. Overall 46 students completed the program. The College arranged a separate Certification Program with the Consultants, Principal, Coordinator & staff members of the College. All the students from the class, and students from First Year & Second Year attended the program. Following is the design of the certificate.
Top performing students were given cash prizes in various categories. The prizes were sponsored by the Guest Lecturer Mr. Raya Bidaye, Toronto, Canada. Following are the prize details. 100% Attendance

Conclusion
The Soft Skills Training Program was completedby the Consultants as per the expectations of the College. At the end of the Training Program students have informed that they have achieved their top expectations from the program – “Confidence & stage-daring” and “English communication”.Hence it can be concluded that the Training Program was successful in delivering the desired results.
