1 Project Sustainability
Ensure a minimum impact in water footprint (freshwater resources preservation) and a minimum impact in carbon footprint (minimize the greenhouse gas emissions for energy consumption). Technical and economical sustainability: customized design, proper selection of materials, minimum operation and maintenance cost during equipment lifetime.
2 Resources Recovery / Waste to Energy
Whenever possible in the project, we try to recover raw materials, sub products and water, and also convert waste to energy. Savings and inputs during operation allow for a fast return of investment and increase sustainability.
3 Zero Liquid Discharge or Zero Air Pollution
The proper use of process design and technology is completely possible thus achieving True ZLD in wastewater and ZAP in air emissions.
Applications ■ Desalinisation: salt removal from sea water or brackish water. ■ Demineralisation: removal of ions to obtain pure Demi water. ■ Filtration: suspended solids removal. ■ Softening: Hardness removal from hard water sources. ■ Drinking water: drinking water production. ■ Disinfection: UV, ozone, UF. ■ Makeup water for CT. ■ Makeup water for steam boilers and HRSG.
Technologies ■ RO: reverse osmosis. ■ SWRO: sea water reverse osmosis. ■ Ion exchange: ion exchange columns with resins. ■ EDI: Electro deionisation to obtain ultra-pure water. ■ Sand/Carbon/multimedia Filters. ■ Evaporation: Desalinisation through thermal separation using different technologies.

Technologies ■ Anaerobic Treatment Plant: Removes COD/BOD at a low cost and produces Biogas. ■ Fix Bed Reactors: High performance in a short time using Biocarb(R) patented process. ■ SLAD (denitrification): Sulphur-limestone autotrophic denitrification without carbon source. ■ Deammonification: Nitrogen removal by anaerobic autotrophic species. ■ MBBR: Moving Bed Biological Reactor, using special plastic support to increase performance. ■ MBR: Use of special membranes to obtain high efficiency during COD/BOD removal. ■ Stripping: Stripping columns to remove VOC’s and gases in wastewater, using air or steam. ■ Liquid extraction: Using liquid extractant to remove a particular substance dissolved in water. ■ RO/RRO: Membrane technology to separate salts and pollutants from water and reduce rejects. ■ NF/UF: Membrane technology to separate some substances from water. ■ EDR: Desalinisation system using Reversal Electrodialysis with electrodes periodically reversed. ■ ED: Use of selective membranes driven by direct current polarity to separate anion from cation. ■ Evaporation: Full range of evaporation and concentration technologies. ■ Crystallisation: Salt precipitation from brines by using super saturation obtained for concentration/cooling. ■ Chemical/Physical: Chemical Coagulation/flocculation and clarification by settling or flotation. ■ Electrocoagulation: Electrolysis of water with Al/Fe electrodes to remove pollutants, no chemicals. ■ AOP: advanced oxidation process, using UV and oxidants (ozone, Peroxides, etc.).

Technologies ■ Regenerative thermal oxidation (RTO): 2 or 3 chambers; 99% VOC removal, 95% thermal recovery. ■ Catalytic Thermal oxidation: low temperature thermal oxidation. ■ Photo oxidation: Use of UV+ O3 to convert VOC’s and odours into clean air emissions. ■ Carbon Filters: Change bed or regenerative systems. ■ Cryocondensation: Chilled water or nitrogen condensation and solvents recovery. ■ SCR: Selective Catalytic Reductor to reduce NOx in N2. ■ DeNOx Recovery®: Transform NOx into fertilisers. ■ Scrubber: Gas washing and absorption.

Technologies for solid waste ■ Bio-methanisation: Biodigestion of organic solid wastes and/or high load organic liquid wastes, named
co-digestion, in order to produce green energy and sometimes obtain fertilisers from eco-sustainable resources.
■ Gasification: By using Pyrolysis, clean SYNGAS can be produced which in turn produces energy. A final inert residue named biochar (bio-charcoal used for agricultural soil amendment), can also be obtained from the solid residue.
Technologies for liquid waste ■ Manurtech™: Digestate treatment. Waste to energy and resource recovery from livestock and poultry manure. ■ Chemirec®: Recovery of chemicals products for reuse. ■ Evaporation/Distillation: Thermal separation technologies. ■ Stabilisation/Solidification: Liquid waste stabilisation and solidification. ■ Crystallisation: Salt production and resources recovery.
