Student Ambassadors are probably one of the most important aspects of the work car-ried out by the Admissions, Recruitment and Outreach teams at the University. Ambassa-dors are current students who are employed for their enthusiasm about their University experience and their ability to communicate this with others.

We organise and run various aspiration-raising activities for prospective Higher Education students. Student Ambassadors provide support for these activities by at-tending Higher Education fairs, working on visit and Open days, mentoring young people in local schools, helping in the office to sup-port staff, working at residential Summer Schools, giving student life talks, provid-ing campus tours and being involved in oth-er projects including Back to Sixth, Focus Groups and the Professor Fluffy Primary Project. The positive impact the Student Ambassadors have on the young people tak-ing part in these activities has been high-lighted through valuable feedback from school students, parents and teachers.

The Scheme offers current University

students an opportunity to meet new people, gain invaluable experience working with pro-spective students and develop transferable employability skills, all while earning £7.41 per hour. Student Ambassadors are required to work a minimum of 24 hours across the academic year, but it is up to each student to decide when they have time to work and which events they want to get involved in.

The Scheme expanded considerably last academic year to employ more than 220 Stu-dent Ambassadors, and are recruiting now for this year’‛s cohort. If you are friendly, approachable, reliable and enthusiastic about your course and University experience then why not think about applying?

The deadline for applications onto the Scheme is Wednesday 8th October, and in-terviews will take place the following week. Full training is provided for all student ac-cepted onto the Scheme. For further in-formation and to download the application documents visit www.uea.ac.uk/ambassadors, drop by the Outreach office in Congregation Hall, or email [email protected] with any queries.

So, what is a Student Ambassador?
