Art 1 Ŕ Règlement général. General rules

Le concours est consacré à la composition d'œuvres de musique de chambre. Il se déroule à

Prades. Il est organisé tous les deux ans par le Festival Pablo Casals de Prades. The competition is

devoted to chamber music compositions. It is organised by the Pablo Casals Festival of Prades and

takes place in Prades every two years.

1) Le concours est ouvert aux compositeurs de toutes nationalités, nés après le 11 avril 1975.

The competition is open to composers of all nationalities born after the 11th of April 1975.

2) Le candidat s’engage à présenter une œuvre de musique de chambre n’ayant jamais été donnée en concert public avant le 11 avril 2015. The candidate will present a work that has never and will never been performed in public before the 11th of April 2015.

3) La composition musicale doit être une combinaison de trois à six instruments, d'une durée

approximative de 15 minutes, choisis parmi les suivants : violon, alto, violoncelle

(obligatoire), flûte, clarinette, hautbois, basson, cor, piano. The competitors are invited to

submit one new chamber music composition, lasting about 15 minutes, in any formation for

three to six instruments. Admitted instruments: violin, viola, cello (obligatory), flute, clarinet,

oboe, bassoon, French horn, piano.

4) Le dossier d’inscription doit être envoyé à la Direction du Concours au plus tard le 2 novembre 2014, cachet de la poste faisant foi. The application must be sent to the Direction

du Concours at the latest on the 2nd

of November 2014, postmark being the proof.

5) Les candidats acceptent sans réserve le règlement du concours, les dispositions relatives à

l’ordre de passage et les décisions du jury. The candidate agrees with all the competition rules,

the arrangements regarding the organization of the competition and the decision of the jury.

Art 4 Ŕ Conditions d’acceptation du dossier d’inscription. Rules concerning the application form

Le dossier d’inscription au concours doit être envoyée au plus tard le 2 novembre 2014 (par courrier postal uniquement, cachet de la poste faisant foi), à l’adresse suivante : The application to the competition must be sent by postmail only at the latest on Novembre the 2nd, 2014 (postmark being the

Les pièces suivantes doivent être jointes en annexe au bulletin d’inscription pour que la demande

puisse être considérée.The following documents must be attached to the application form in order for

the application to be taken into consideration.

- 8 exemplaires de l'œuvre (un exemplaire pour chaque membre du jury). 8 copies of the work

(one copy for each member of the jury).

- CV rédigé en français ou en anglais (une page dactylographiée) mentionnant les

établissements des études musicales, les principaux professeurs, les récompenses obtenues, la

situation professionnelle. CV in French or in English (length one typed page), indicating

institutions where musical studies were undertaken, most important teachers, any prizes

obtained and working status.

- Une biographie du candidat (maximum une page dactylographiée). A biography of the

candidate (maximum one typed page).

- Deux lettres de recommandation de personnalités éminentes du milieu musical (uniquement

pour les compositeurs débutants). Two references from well known persons who are in the

field of music (for beginning composers only). - Une photocopie de carte d'identité ou de passeport. Photocopy of a document of identification

or passport.

Seuls les dossiers complets seront acceptés. Only the applications with all the requested

documents will be accepted.

Art 4 Ŕ Annonce des résultats. Communication of the results

La Direction du Concours est habilitée à décider de l’admission des candidats après examen des dossiers.

Le nombre de candidats n’est pas limité, la Direction du Concours procédera à une validation des

inscriptions sur la base des documents et de la partition, claire et lisible. Les candidats admis recevront

une confirmation de leur acception au concours. A partir du 31 janvier 2015, la décision des membres du jury est communiquée. Pour les trois finalistes sélectionnés, les partitions individuelles doivent être

envoyées à la Direction du Concours le 15 février 2015 au plus tard, cachet de la poste faisant foi. The Direction du Concours is empowered to accept or refuse the applications. The number of candidates is

not limited; the Direction du Concours will validate that the applications on the basis of the documents

and of the score, which must be clearly legible. The candidates will receive notification of acceptation or

refusal of their application. Starting January the 31st 2015, the candidates are informed of the decision of the members of the jury.

The three selected competitors must send the individual scores to the Direction of the Competition on

February the 15th of 2015 at the latest, postmark being the proof.

Art 5 Ŕ Déroulement du Concours. Organization of the Competition

Les œuvres seront interprétées en création mondiale devant le jury en concert public. L'exécution des

œuvres retenues se déroulera, dans un ordre fixé par un tirage au sort, lors du concert public. Toute

œuvre en compétition qui serait interprétées en concert public avant la date du concours sera éliminée

d’office. Les compositeurs devront être personnellement présents à cette occasion. Les œuvres seront

jouées par des solistes et ensembles professionnels. Le jury délibéra, à huis clos pendant 20 à 30

minutes, à l'issue des interprétations. Le jury désignera en public le lauréat et procèdera à la remise des

prix. L’œuvre lauréate sera à nouveau interprétée. The works will be performed in a public concert in

Prades as a World Premiere in presence of the jury. A drawing will be held to determine the order of

play on the occasion of a public concert. No work can have been performed before that date. Any

work that is performed in public before the date of the competition will be automatically eliminated.

The composers are required to be present. The pieces will be performed by professional soloists and

groups. At the end of the round the jury will deliberate close-doors during 20 to 30 minutes and decide

the winner. The jury will announce the winner to the public and will give the awards. The awarded

work will be performed one more time.

Art 6 Ŕ Prix et engagements. Prize and commitment

Grand Prix : 12 000 euros. Prix finalistes : 1 500 euros. La décision du jury est sans appel. Une

seconde représentation de l'œuvre primée se déroulera l'été, à l'Abbaye Saint-Michel de Cuxà lors de

l’édition du Festival Pablo Casals de l’année correspondante au concours. Elle sera également

proposée à d'autres Festivals et à différents éditeurs. The Great Prize is 12 000 euros. Finalists

prize: 1 500 euros. The Jury's decision is final. The winning piece will be performed again in the

summer of that same year at the Abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxà, during the Pablo Casals Festival.

The work will also be suggested to other festivals and editors.

Art 7 Ŕ Exploitation des œuvres en compétition. Exploitation of the works in competition

Les organisateurs du concours pourront enregistrer, radiodiffuser, filmer, télédiffuser (en direct ou en

différé) et photographier tous les événements se rapportant au concours ainsi que les interprétations du

concert, d’en faire des disques et enregistrements sur bande sonore ou vidéo, sans obligation d'une

quelconque rétribution. The organizers of the competition are allowed to record, broadcast on the radio

or on TV, film or take photography of all the events related to the competition and the interpretation,

to make discs or recordings in order to make the promotion of the festival, without any obligation to

pay fees.

Art 8 Ŕ Voyage et hébergement. Travel and accommodation

Les finalistes devront arriver à Prades 2 jours avant le jour de concours. Chaque candidat a le droit de

répéter seul avec les musiciens interprètes. La Direction du Concours se chargera de l'organisation de

l'hébergement et du transport des trois candidats retenus. Les frais de transports seront remboursés sur

justificatifs (factures et tickets originaux d'avion ou train, classe économique uniquement).

L’hébergement comprendra le petit-déjeuner. The finalists must arrive 2 days before the date of the

competition. Each candidate can have one rehearsal in private with the musicians. The competition

organisers will arrange travel and lodging of the three final competitors. The travel expenses will be

refunded on condition that the original plane or train tickets are given to the organisers (economic

class only). Accommodation includes breakfast.

Art 9 Ŕ Clause d’acceptation. Acceptance of the conditions

Le fait de concourir implique de la part des concurrents l'acceptation pure et simple du présent

règlement. En cas de litige, seule la rédaction en langue française fera foi. The very fact of competing

implies, on the part of the candidates, the acceptance of all of the rules of the competition. Only the

French version of these rules takes precedence in case of any dispute.
