CLIMBING TO NEW HEIGHTS IN YEN BAI

LA VIE, YEN BAI PROVINCE- VIETNAM

Concordia partnered with VietClimb and the VuLinh Ecolodge, in Yen Bai province, for this year’s local interim. VuLinh is located five hours northwest of Hanoi and is respected for its scenic beauty, the Dao Quan Trang minority group, and a variety of outdoor adventures, including rock climbing. Concordia students had a chance to challenge themselves physically through the climbing adventures and learn about local ethnic minority life and culture through workshop activities that included, embroidery, farming and food.

TAKLIMAKAN DESERT, PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

Nine Concordia Hanoi students joined twelve Middle School students from our sister school, Concordia International School Shanghai on this weeklong adventure of orienteering, trekking and survival training in the Taklimakan desert of northwest China, in a stunning area that is surrounded by the Kunlun Mountains to the south, the Pamir Mountains and Tian Shan (ancient Mount Imeon) to the west and north, and the Gobi Desert to the east. Students hiked, camped, prepared their own meals, and were constantly tested on their survival skills as they were faced with simulation scenarios from reorienting themselves when lost in the desert to what to do if your camel herder abandons the group to go home to his wife who is in labor. Concordia students also were prepped and tested on basic first aid including dehydration, hypothermia, abrasions, splinting and much more.

Drop Everything And READ!

CONCORDIA BOOK WEEK

CONCORDIA STUDENTS ARE SUCH CHARACTERS!

A wonderful week of literature and stories was filled with great reading contests, mystery readers in the classroom, peer readers, as well as D-E-A-R (Drop Everything And Read) time. The week came to a wonderful culmination with our Concordia Character Book Parade where both teachers and students dressed up as their favorite book characters. Can you spot any well-known books in the pictures?

FUN ON FIELD DAY

WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE OUTSIDEAs part of the annual field day, Concordia students had the opportunity to get outside and expend some of that wonderful energy on running, jumping, and all sorts of other sporty fun. A huge thank you to Concordia parents who came out to help on the day and to Santa Fe for providing the ever-popular bouncy castle.

Top left: football throw; relay races in middle school; sponge relays and a great way to get soaked; high school gets competitive with pizza races; water balloon volleyball- don’t drop the balloon; upper school students try their luck at three legged races, CENTER: box races

THANK YOU, INTERNATIONAL SOS!

A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to our friends at the International SOS clinic for supporting Concordia by providing a First Aid Station for our fun field day. It was great to have Dr. Thu and Nurse/ Clinic Manager Alison with us for the day!
