CONCEPT
According to the main economic and social multilateral organizations, Sweden is at the forefront of
economic and social development and ranks the top positions in the indices evaluating such a
development. In the “Innovation Capacity Index” elaborated by Harvard Business School, Sweden
ranks the 7th
position among 173 countries, and the 2nd
in some sectors where the attention of the
global scientific community is currently at its peak. The INSEAD Business School’s Global
Innovation Index ranks Sweden at the 2nd
position.
This performance is mainly achieved thanks to the substantial public and private investments that
the country still continues to earmark to R&D. Every year, 4% of its GDP is invested in R&D.
Only Israel and South Korea invest a bigger quote of their GDP.
Stockholm is known as a “Start-up city”: in 2017, 259 companies have raised 1,8 billion euro, a
result second only to the Silicon Valley. Among successful start-ups, we could name Skype and
Spotify, but also Dice Studio and King (developer of Candy Crush and Minecraft). In the last seven
years, the Swedish capital has welcomed 20.000 new digital ventures, thanks also to a generous
public funding and to the safety net offered by the social security system in case of failure. The high
degree of digitalization, furthermore, with a fiber optic that reaches 95% of households in the urban
area and is never below 50% in the rest of the country (scarcely inhabited in the middle-north area)
is without any doubt an important add-on.
If these, then, are the “wonders” of the “Swedish model”, what could be the Italian interests to
expand upon? Italy has recently adopted an ambitious program called “Industria 4.0” which confers
to start-ups a fundamental role in the industrial development of the 4th
generation. Our country is,
besides, at the forefront of planning innovative digital solutions to infrastructural and social issues:
Smart City/Open Fiber, Digital Utility/IoT, GIS/Recupero e gestione territoriale (recovery and
management of the territory) are only a few examples of the current application of innovative
technologies. In this context, synergies and collaboration opportunities with other countries, such as
Sweden, are by all means to be explored and encouraged. The outstanding amount of Italian
scientists, technicians and researchers, even at senior level, in main Universities, research
institutions and Swedish companies are an effective mean of promoting Italian excellences in R&D.
It would also be important to establish a network with the constantly increasing amount of young
PhD students coming from our Universities, with the aim of sharing knowledge. Last but not least,
it’s of great significance mentioning the increasing number of start-ups launched by our fellow
countrymen/women in Stockholm and the rest of Sweden. Thousands of Italians, mainly all of
recent immigration to this country, with whom it would be possible to establish potential synergies
in order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the R&D sector with undoubtedly great returns for
the industrial and commercial development of both countries.
The important event “Stockholm TechFest” running September 3-5, offers a great opportunity to
open a discussion and exchange information and knowledge. To this purpose, the seminar organized
by the Embassy at the Italian Cultural Institute on September 5, in collaboration with the
Ampioraggio Foundation and with the presence of distinguished Italian speakers and a selected
audience of professionals, aims to offer a first glance to future prospects.

From “digital first” to “digital only”
Our goal is to improve the quality of services for citizens, and we introduced different levels of digital innovation: • we released the new institutional web site • we introduced the SPID (Digital Identity for Public Service,
eIDAS) authentication for more than 70 services offered by the Municipality of Rome
• we released the Single Reporting System

A Single Reporting System
To improve easiness of use and transparency, we have no longer a reporting system for each service but instead a single system that collect each request. Through this tool citizens can leave comments, questions, complaints about all services offered by the administration.

Joint Open Lab: a Bit of History
Joint Open Lab - CataniaValeria D’Amico
Research and Innovation laboratories located within university campuses, in 5 major Italian universities, focused on prioritysubjects for the company strategy and for the surrounding territory, in which a new model for university partnerships - based onco-design and co-development - enables a reciprocal influence and increases value creation.
4 In 2012 TIM launched a new Industry-Academia partnership model, promotingthe creation of a series of Joint Open Labs distributed over the nationalterritory and located within the university premises.
4 The opening of innovation towards the direction of the academic world andof the industrial local environment has the significance of involvingdiversified actors, communities and extended ecosystems.
4 A broadening of business towards new trajectories derives from thisreciprocal contamination and from the overall system growth, thustransforming ideas and talent into new opportunities for the economical, social and environmental growth of the local territorial context (corporateentrepreneurship).

WE HAVE THOUGHT UP THE DESTINATION MASTER
PROGRAMME
WHAT IS THE DESTINATION MASTER PROGRAMME?
The Destination Master Programme is the first TECHNOLOGICAL ABILITATOR for small and
large operators, designed to promote the DIGITALIZATION of the tourist offer.
The objective is to provide tour operators with TECHNOLOGY, KNOW-HOW AND VARIOUS
COMMUNICATION TOOLS to build an aggregate and systemic offer to export abroad in a coherent,
uniform and recognizable way.
This tool also offers a 'turnkey' kit that allows those WHO DOES NOT HAVE A LICENSE OF
TOURIST AGENCY TO SELL TOURIST PACKAGES by relying on ours.
WHOM IS THE DESTINATION MASTER PROGRAMME ADDRESSED TO?
OUR AFFILIATION PROGRAMME IS OPEN TO THOSE WHO OFFER EXPERIENCES IN ALL THE
ITALIAN TERRITORY:
Local operators who supply multi-day tours and itineraries.
Local operators offering one-day activities, such as horse or bike rides, lake or river cruises,
wine tastings, cooking classes, rafting ...
Tourist guides providing guided tours, escorted tours, excursions with environmental guides
Operators who rent bicycles, segways, canoes, pedal boats, skis, snowboards ...
Museums, exhibitions, theme parks, aquariums, theatres, events, shows for the sale of entrance
tickets
Non-conventional accommodation sites, such as castles, lighthouses, tree houses ..
WE HAVE REALIZED THAT DESTINATION
