INTRODUCTION

Commentator:

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, good morning! Welcome to this Eucharistic celebration.

With deep gratitude to God, we are gathered here for the 32nd

Capping Badge-Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony of the Aureate Light of Nightingale Class of the College of Nursing with the theme “Nursing care Through the Ages”.

The value of nursing includes gentle loving care and understanding patients’ needs. It shows loving concern in developing goals and actions intended to enhance patients’ welfare. It directs the activities related to the medical plan to improve the patients’ condition.

Throughout history, Jesus Christ exemplified this art of care during His ministry on earth when He healed those who followed Him as well as those who condemned Him.

In this Eucharistic celebration, may we be reminded of how Jesus valued the life of the sick. May we also captivate within us the real essence of care which is the heart of the nursing profession.

With this intention at hand, let us then offer this Eucharistic celebration for the success and perseverance of these students in fulfilling their dreams.

And now with joyful hearts and gratitude to God, let us all rise and together sing our entrance hymn.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading: Am 9:11-15(Julianne Triz C. Jubac)

A reading from the Book of the Prophet AmosThus says the LORD: On that day I will raise upthe fallen hut of David; I will wall up its breaches, raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,That they may conquer what is left of Edomand all the nations that shall bear my name, say I, the LORD, who will do this. Yes, days are coming, says the LORD, When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the vintager, him who sows the seed; The juice of grapes shall drip down the mountains, and all the hills shall run with it. I will bring about the restoration of my people Israel; they shall rebuild and inhabit their ruined cities, Plant vineyards and drink the wine, set out gardens and eat the fruits. I will plant them upon their own ground; never again shall they be pluckedFrom the land I have given them, say I, the LORD, your God.

The word of the Lord

THE LORD SPEAKS OF PEACE TO HIS PEOPLE..

I will hear what God proclaims;the LORD–for he proclaims peace to his people.Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him, glory dwelling in our land.

R. The Lord speaks of peace to his people.

Kindness and truth shall meet;justice and peace shall kiss.Truth shall spring out of the earth, and justice shall look down from heaven

R. The Lord speaks of peace to his people.

The LORD himself will give his benefits;our land shall yield its increase.Justice shall walk before him,and salvation, along the way of his steps.R. The Lord speaks of peace to his people.

Commentator: Let us all stand to honor the Holy GospelAlleluia: (sung)

Gospel Reading: Mt. 9:14-17

From the holy gospel according to Matthew

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said,“Why do we and the Pharisees fast much, but your disciples do not fast?” Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mournas long as the bridegroom is with them

The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunkencloth, for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse. People do not put new wine into old wineskins.Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”

ALL: It is right and just.

on, Jesus Christ, your word through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Savior and redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin.

Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people, he stretched out his hands as he endured his Passion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection.

And so, with the Angels and all the Saints we declare your glory, as with one voice we acclaim:

Holy, holy, Holy Lord God of hosts….

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, 7

Page 9: CON Capping

FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNALCOVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.

DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

Priest: The mystery of faith.

All: We proclaim your Death…

Priest: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of hisDeath and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, theBread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope and Leonardo our Bishop and all the clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that

NURSES’ PRAYER

Dearest Lord, may I see Thee today and every day in the person of Thy

sick and whilst nursing them, minister unto Thee, Thou hides Thyself

behind the unattractive disguise of the irritable, the exacting and the

unreasonable. May I still recognize Thee and say “Jesus, my patient, how

sweet it is to serve Thee. Lord, give me that seeing faith, that my work will

never become monotonous that I will ever fine new joy in humoring the

fancies and gratifying the wishes of all poor sufferers.”

Dearest Lord, make me appreciate the dignity of my high vocation and its

many responsibilities; and never permit me to disgrace it by giving way to

coldness, unkindness or impatience. And my God, whilst Thou art Jesus

my patient, deign also to be patient, Jesus bearing with many faults and

looking into my intention, which is ever to love and to serve Thee in the

person of each and every one of Thy sick. Lord, increase my faith, bless

my efforts and sanctify my work, now and forever. Amen.

ONE LITTLE CANDLE

It is better to light just one little candleThan to stumble in the dark.Better far that you light just one little candle,All you need is a tiny spark! If we'd all say a prayer that the world would be free,A wonderful dawn of a new day we'd see...And if everyone lit just one little candle,What a bright world this would Be!Let’s all light one little candle. Why stumble on in the dark? When the day is dark and dreary, and your way is hard to find. Don’t let your heart be weary, just keep this thought in mind! It is better to light just one little candle , than to stumble in the dark! Better far that you light just one little candle all you need is a tiny spark! If we'd all say a prayer that the world would be free,A wonderful dawn of a new day we'd see...And if everyone lit just one little candle,What a bright world this would Be!
