1 Safety Information

1.1 Warning Information and Symbols

The following designations and symbols are used in the operating manual to indicate information that is especially important: This symbol refers to dangers involved in the activity under description that could possibly result in injury to personnel. Here your attention is drawn to dangers which could pose a threat to property, e.g. damage to the equipment or the environment. The hand with the pointing finger refers you to sections providing additional information and tips. This sign points out a possible loss of warranty cover. Make sure you read all the safety information in this documentation and comply with this information when using the system. Always keep these instructions in a safe place. Issue a copy to every operator. The control system may be operated only by hand. Never use pointed objects to depress keys. The system may no longer be operated if the device is damaged. It should be disconnected from the mains. The indicator must be protected against damp, liquids and dust, in particular, for as long as the display window is damaged. Always use mild detergents when cleaning the device. Solvent containing, aggressive and abrasive detergents may not be used. On disposal of the indicator, the electronic assemblies must be disposed of as special waste in accordance with local regulations.

1.2 Intended Use

This system is built to recognized safety standards. However, the improper use of the device can endanger the life and limb of the user or of other persons and may result in damage to the equipment or other items.

It may be used only for the intended purpose and must be in perfect technical condition. There should be no doubt that this system contains many electronic and mechanical components and therefore the possibility of a fault occurring cannot be completely ruled out.

Faults that represent a potential safety risk must be remedied immediately.

This system is designed solely for the tasks described in this documentation. It may not be used for any other purpose.

Caution: this system cannot make up for any lack of on-the-job experience or judgment regarding the use of the equipment on the part of the operator. Responsibility for the entire operating process and any consequences arising there from rests solely with the operator.

The manufacturer can accept no liability for damage or injury caused by improper or impermissible use of the system. The user alone bears the risk.

1.3 General Information

The iSCALE DS130 must be calibrated after completing system installation, machine modification, or

anytime there is an indication of inaccuracy. The calibration will match the sensors installed on the

machine.

Prior to starting the calibration, it is advised to first read over this procedure in its entirety. The

purpose of this manual is to provide calibration information required before operating the system.

Refer to the Operator’s Manual for system description and console controls.

1.4 Warnings

Always refer to operational instructions and load charts that are provided by the crane manufacturer for specific crane operation and load limits.

The iSCALE DS130 System is not and shall not be a substitute for good operator judgment, experience, or use of acceptable safe operating procedures.

The operator is responsible for operating the crane within the manufacturer's specified parameters.

The machine operator shall ensure that all warnings and instructions provided by the manufacturer are fully understood, observed, and remain with the machine.

Prior to operating the crane, the operator must carefully read and understand the information in the Operator's Manual so that he knows the operation and limitations of the iSCLAE DS130 System.

BEFORE OPERATION OF THE MACHINE, THE SYSTEM MUST BE CALIBRATED. ALL STEPS MUST BE FOLLOWED AND COMPLETED. TO PREVENT MATERIAL DAMAGE AND SERIOUS, OR EVEN FATAL, ACCIDENTS, THE CORRECT ADJUSTMENT OF THE SYSTEM HAS TO BE ENSURED BEFORE STARTING THE MACHINE OPERATION.

MAKE SHURE THAT ALL THE SETTINGS / DATA IS SET CORRECT!

1.5 Start-up

Before taking the device into operation make sure you have read all the instructions issued by the manufacturer of the equipment in question with regard to the upgrade and use of the equipment.

This manual and the manuals of the equipment manufacturer must have been read and thoroughly understood before starting work.

All entries must be made in accordance with the actual condition of the equipment. If incorrect entries are made, the device will not function properly and will not afford the operator or the equipment protection in dangerous situations.

Before making any adjustments to the system, always check the sensor and the power cable.

The system may be adjusted and customized only by the PAT-KRÜGER systems customer service department or an authorized PAT-KRÜGER system representative. Incorrect adjustments can lead to inaccurate data indications or device malfunctions. All guarantee claims lapse in such cases.

2 vSCALE D2

The vSCALE D2 console is a console (display) totally configurated by the iSCALE DS130. The communication is by CAN-open.

3.3 Main screen After system startup is this the MAIN screen (working screen). On this screen you have all the actual crane data available.

The actual screen can be different from data below Screen data:

Manual:

If the load is in position and above a pre-set weight the system start to measure the container. This will be activated by an external button. When the log button is released the measurement will stops and calculated the weight.

Automatic:

If the load is in position and above a pre-set weight the system start to measure the container. The measurement will stop when the load is under a pre-set weight and the weight will calculated.

3.3.1 Tips for a more accurate measurement With these tips you can increase the accuracy from your measurement.

Tare the empty spreader for each measurement.

Standing still with your machine (not driving).

Smoothly lifting and lowering the container.

Measure in the same position (procedure).

Measure not at a windy, rainy or snowy day.

Container hanging free under the spreader.

3.3.2 Container position Here is a drawing of the measuring position. Else it’s not possible to make a measurement of the container

3.7 Service I/O errors menu If you have selected the service I/O error menu you have a quick overview witch I/O channel have some errors. If there are more errors the I/O channels will switch over every 5 seconds.

White bullets on this I/O is NO error.

3.17 Logging list There is an opportunity to read back the last 10 weighing. (from working screen press F6). Here you got a list of the last 10 measurements. Listed Event no. – Weight [ton] – Container size [ft]. The green bar will indicate the last measurement (this is working in a loop).

4 System status/errors

An error is indicated by turning this LED ON or by flashing it. The hardware lights this LED immediately from power-on, and holds it ON for about four seconds.

4 Preventive Maintenance

4.1 Preventive Maintenance This system consists electronic and electrical components. Maintenance work on the system may carried out on the system only by service personal from the company:

PAT-KRÜGER systems b.v. By personnel authorized by the manufacturer or by personnel trained by PAT-KRÜGER systems b.v.. As even minor damage can significantly impair the efficiency of the device or even put it out of operation, the operator must ensure that the device is fully operational before the start of work each day.

4.2 Manual Inspection At yearly intervals the system must be inspected by authorized service personnel. All checks and settings must be made in accordance with the statutory regulations.

5 Hardware connections

5.1 General

5.1.1 Safety Relevant (SR)

The Safety-Relevant mode is developed for safety-related functions. In addition to the processing of I/O values, error codes are generated if an error is detected. Error events, for which an error code is defined, can be reliably detected. In case of a safety relevant error, the affected output will be disabled. See the specific I/O Type description for the appropriate error code definition.

5.1.2 Function Relevant (FR)

Error codes are also generated in Function Relevant mode, but it is not guaranteed that error events for which an error code is defined will always be recognized.

5.10 Power ON iSCALE DS130

+ UBS is hard-wired (to the battery) A rising edge of the PWR_SW signal switches the power supply on (positive transition activated), if the system is de-energized. If a low level of the PWR_SW signal input is detected, the CPU shuts down after all system software tasks are fully closed (low-level activated). The system will be de-energized within 15s:

Wait at least 15s between PWR_SW off and PWR_SW on! Otherwise the PLC will not start. During CPU shut-down process PWR_SW is disabled.

5.11 CAN connection

The iSCALE DS130 has a SUB-D 9-pin female CAN connector. The iSCALE DS130 has a termination of 120 ohm internally. CAN connector M12x1

5.12 USB connection

USB Host A,1.1 or 2.0 / A maximum current of 0.5A is available from the USB interface for external devices (e.g. USB memory stick). Female connector Type A, the housing shield is not connect with the CASE potential

5.13 Ethernet connection

The connector is a standard female RJ45 connector, supporting 10/100 Base-TX with MDI assignment. The Ethernet connector has two integrated LEDs. Addressable colors are green and yellow. Arrangement see figure below. Green: Link Status – ON or OFF Yellow: Activity – flashes for 10ms, during data transfer

5.14 Power connection

Power connector of the PS DC5/12V – IO 01 module on the underside: Pin 2 is only assigned in PSN power supply as source for DI Namur. UBP is the power source for DI DIAG and DOs. The connector of the IP20 SMC power supply module is a 6 pin RIA MSTB 2.5-6/GF Connector, with pin spacing 5.08.

6 General Installation Guidelines

This chapter discusses general installation details.

The installation instructions described in this chapter apply to PLC installations that do not require special procedures for noisy or hazardous environments.

6.1 Receiving your Products and Visual Inspection When you receive your iSCALE DS130 PLC system, carefully inspect all shipping containers for damage that may have occurred during shipping. If any part of the system is damaged, notify the carrier immediately. The damaged shipping container should be saved as evidence for inspection by the carrier. As the consignee, it is your responsibility to register a claim with the carrier for damage that happened during shipment.

6.2 Pre-installation Check After unpacking the iSCALE DS130 PLC, cables, modules, etc., record all serial numbers. Serial numbers are printed on the module packaging. Serial numbers are required to make a claim during the warranty period of the equipment. You should verify that all components of the system have been received and that they agree with your order.

6.3 Warranty Claims Record the serial number of the defective item and contact your distributor for instructions.

6.3 System Layout Guidelines Because of the differences from one system to another, it is not practical to try to discuss every possible layout. Instead, this section offers guidelines and an example to help you lay out your system.

6.3.1 Benefits of a Good Layout – Safe, Reliable, and Accessible The layout of your system has a lot to do with how reliably your system will operate, how easy it will be to install, how well it will look, and how easy and safe it will be to maintain:

Safety and Maintenance – A good layout helps minimize the chance of electrical shock to personnel working on the system. It lets maintenance technicians easily access the unit to make measurements, load software, check indicator lights, remove and replace modules, etc. A good layout also makes it easier to trace wiring and locate components while troubleshooting, which helps reduce equipment downtime.

Reliability – Proper layout promotes good heat dissipation and helps eliminate electrical noise from the system. Excess heat and noise are two major causes of electronic component failure.

Installation Efficiency – A well designed layout allows sufficient room to mount and wire T he unit. This saves time and frustration.

Appearance – A neat and orderly layout gives others a favorable impression of your system. It lets others know that careful thought went into the design of the system.

6.4 System Grounding Procedures

In addition to the following grounding information, we strongly urge that you follow all applicable codes that apply to your area. For example, in the United States, most areas have adopted the National Electrical Code standard and specify that all wiring conform to its requirements. In other countries, different codes will apply. For maximum safety to personnel and property you must follow these codes. Failure to do so can mean injury or death to personnel, damage to property, or both.

All components of a programmable logic control system and the devices it is controlling must be properly grounded. This is particularly important for the following reasons.

A low resistance path from all parts of a system to earth minimizes exposure to shock in the event of short circuits or equipment malfunction.

The iSCALE DS130 PLC system requires proper grounding for correct operation.

6.5 PLC Equipment Grounding Equipment grounding recommendations and procedures are listed below. These grounding procedures must be properly followed for safe, proper operation of your iSCALE DS130 PLC system.

6.5.1 Baseplate Safety Grounding The following recommendations are offered, but applicable safety codes for your area or equipment type should also be consulted. The iSCALE DS130 housing metal back must be grounded using a separate conductor; the baseplate mounting screw are not considered to be an acceptable ground connection by themselves. Use a minimum 2.5 mm2 wire with a ring terminal and star lock washer under the head of one of the baseplate’s two lower mounting holes. These two holes have openings to the side to allow connecting a wire and ring terminal under the head of a mounting screw. Connect the other end of this ground wire to a tapped hole in the panel that the baseplate is mounted to, using a machine screw, star lock washer, and flat washer. Alternately, if your panel has a ground stud, it is recommended you use a nut and star lock washer for each wire on the ground stud to ensure adequate grounding. Where connections are made to a painted panel, the paint should be removed so clean, bare metal is exposed at the connection point. Terminals and hardware used should be compatible with the aluminum baseplate material.

All baseplates must be grounded to minimize electrical shock hazard. Failure to do so can result in severe personal injury.

7 Specifications

General The vSCALE D2 and D3 are pre selectable displays. These are standard displays which are connected with the CAN-bus to the iSCALE DS130. It’s possible that not all the selectable displays are available for both displays. It’s very easy to upload the software for the selected display. All the displays have the same menu structure available. Do not update a vSCALE D2 with a vSCALE D3 software or vice versa. The console must then be reset to factory settings (not possible on site).
