JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE) was established in

the year 1997 at Bengaluru and is under the umbrella of JSS

Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru. JSSATE is the result of the vision of

our President, His Holiness Jagadaguru Sri Shivarathri

Deshikendra Mahaswamiji to proactively participate in

establishing a world class Institution for Technical Education. The

Campus is located in a sprawling 21.17 acres land surrounded by

lush green plantation on the South-Western edge of Bengaluru

City. Institution is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological

University (VTU), Belgaum, India. JSSATE, Bengaluru has an

excellent infrastructure with the state-of-the art equipment and

machinery as laboratory facilities. The Institute has highly

qualified faculty members. The Institution has spacious

classrooms and the laboratories with Wi-Fi facility. Centralized

library has open access facility for faculty and students. The

Institute has initiated number of multi disciplinary and multi-

Institutional research programmes with AICTE, DST and other

departments. The Institute has a centralized library with open

access facility for students. The Institute Digital library has online

access to International journals. Book bank facility is available for

students.

The Department of Information Science and Engineering started in the

year 1999. The Department has current intake of 90. The Department

comprises of excellent infrastructure with well equipped Laboratories,

Class rooms and Departmental Library. The Student forum SAMYOG is

solely for the benefit of student community. The students actively take

part in the co-curricular activities like project, paper & poster

presentations, coding, debugging etc. In the extra-curricular events like

NSS, sports, college fest, and in the preparation of technical magazines &

newsletters. They are also volunteers to their own events like YODHA,

Book_borrow.com, bookbeka.com, medical camps like blood donation

camps, eye testing camps, dental camps and Ayurvedic camps etc. The

students of the department have recorded very good performance in

competitive examinations such as GATE, GRE, GMAT, TOEFEL, CAT,

PGCET etc. and admitted in the top Universities of the world.

Machine Learning with Big Data sets , Cloud Computing, DataScience

Analytics . Department of information science & Engineering of JSSATE

focuses in organizing this workshop to familiarize the faculty of

Engineering colleges, UG/PG and PhD students with the latest

developments and importance of computational data science. This

workshop is to provide an exposure in identifying research areas and

suitable projects to be undertaken by the students. This workshop

provides a platform for exchanging and enhancing scientific and

technological knowledge of experts from R&D, academia, and industry

in the area of Computational Data Science. The workshop covers

lectures and hands-on sessions on computational data science from

eminent personalities from academic institutes and industries. Target

audiences are graduate students, PhD scholars, faculty members,

scientists, software developers, seeking to carry out research on

computational data science. We are therefore bringing in a spectrum of

resource persons from industries, distinguished professors from Indian

Institute of Science and other data science experts.

Department is strengthened by well qualified faculty members whose

main aim is to make students aware of the cutting edge technology with

competence, commitment & team work. An industry interaction is

established through MOUs. Sponsored projects & industrial visits,

Invited lecturers, workshops, seminars and webinars are also organized

on a regular basis in emerging technologies from experts of industries

and institutions. Further, most of the faculty members and students

won the best paper awards, the best poster awards, the best project

awards in National / International Conferences across the globe. Our

faculty members and students are also members of professional

societies like ISTE, CSI & IEEE etc.Soft-skill programmes are conducted through the placement cell for the

overall personality development of the student. Most of our students

are well placed in fortune 500 companies. Many of our students have

published and presented their research papers in reputed National/

International Journals and Conferences. Many of our Alumni joined MS

programmes in the leading and reputed Universities across the globe.

Under the R & D activity, RPS project has been taken up by the

department and successfully completed. Furthermore project

proposals are in pipeline.

In recent years, climatic changes are being predicted with greater

accuracy. Also complex simulations are being used to design and test

vehicles before fabrication. All these are made possible by revolutions

in science and technology driven by the use of big data and

computation. Major challenge is to build and derive insights from data

science and machine learning models. The field of data science is

emerging at the intersection of the fields of social science and statistics,

information and computer science, and design. Key concepts in Data

Science include data acquisition, preparation, exploration and

visualization. Knowledge on Computational Data Science provides skills

and knowledge needed to develop, deploy and to analyze the data that

systems generate. There is significant and growing demand for data-

savvy professionals. The need to identify, design and build models to

fulfill the challenges in Computational Data Science is of major concern

and interest.This faculty development programme features invited talks

and discussions on technologies, applications and challenges of

computational data science. The workshop provides an approach

towards covering various aspects of Computational Data Science like;

distributed algorithms and storage, machine learning, language

technologies, software engineering, human-computer interaction, and

design.
