What is it?
• Device that receives, stores, and processes information
• Tool to augment human intellect and “increase the capability of a man to approach complex problem situation” (Engelbardt, 1962)
What forms can it have?
Hardware, Software?! What? Where?
• Software = Stuff you install and you can’t touch
• Hardware = Parts that you can touch
• Other Stuff = Processing, Memory, and Input/Output devices (I/O)

– computer-based tutorials and learning games are developed
– 25% high schools use PCs for college and career guidance
– Schools start using MS-DOS
– Laptops are created

– Schools have at least 1 computer for instructional delivery
