Comptroller’s Office Offers Vital Resource for BusinessOwners Looking for Answers to Their State Tax Questions

During the month of May, the Comptroller’s office will conduct 11 free taxpayer seminars across the state. At theseseminars, taxpayers can learn how to properly fill out tax forms, and file and pay taxes electronically. Informationabout e-services will also be available to help taxpayers manage their accounts online. Comptroller representativeswill be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance to attendees.

“We want to empower Texas business owners by making resources and information accessible. Conducting theseseminars and making our team of tax specialists available provides guidance for businesses,” said R.J. DeSilva,spokesperson for the Comptroller’s office.

Unemployment Benefits Available for Affected Workers in West. Job fair for impacted workers on April 29

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and its local partners are responding to the April 17 disaster in the town ofWest by helping affected workers apply for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits, register and search for work on

WorkInTexas.com and receive other workforce or support services. A job fair for impacted workers will be held April 29.More information on the fair can be found here.

“As the people of West begin to recover from this tragedy, TWC and our workforce partners stand ready to provide jobassistance and support services for workers and employers,” said TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar.

The following employment information and services are available to affected individuals in West:• Mobile Workforce Unit – Located at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 2547 Jerry Mashek Rd., the mobile workforce

unit is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will be on-site for as long as needed to assist individuals. WorkforceSolutions Heart of Texas (Heart of Texas) staff will be available at the mobile workforce unit to help displaced workers,veterans and residents file for unemployment benefits, look for jobs, register for work online through WorkInTexas.com,

and Burger House on 128 N. Main St. in West.
