Develop history for each unit, cold baseline to operational condition monitoring.

Project Description:

Permanent monuments were attached during a mechanical down for each unit. During that time a “cold” baseline was

established for each unit. The baseline inspection would become the comparison for all subsequent inspections for

which casing deflection and movement will be evaluated.

“Hot” checks are periodically scheduled and completed during normal run time. The initial hot check is compared to the cold

baseline and movement/deflection values are provided at each permanent monument location. Each subsequent hot check is then

compared to both the preceding hot check as well as the cold baseline. Movement is tracked from the cold baseline as well as

between each periodic hot inspection.

All movement is depicted in reference to the compressor centerline. An xyz coordinate reference is establish along the

compressor centerline. The X axis represents axial movement along the shaft centerline, either towards or away from the motor…

a + movement is towards the motor and a – movement is away from the motor. The Y axis represents horizontal movement, either

left or right of the shaft centerline… a + value is movement to the left (looking from motor) of the centerline and a – value is

movement to the right (looking from motor) of the centerline. The Z axis represents vertical movement, either above or below the

shaft centerline… a + value is movement above the centerline and a – value is movement below the centerline.
