Be part of the largest composites conference in Australasia

On behalf of Composites Australia and CRC-ACS, I invite you to join local and international industry and scientific leaders at our 2015 conference.

This is an opportunity to advance your knowledge and your business, joining the conversation with industry leaders and researchers at the forefront of new and emerging trends in composites.

The program promises TWO powerful days with more than 45 industry, technical and academic speakers from Australia, Canada, Germany, Iran, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands, USA and Uzbekistan.

Under the theme Game on! Winning with Composites, presenters from industry will share knowledge on a wide range of topics from new and emerging products, technologies, and applications to financial management and export experiences.

WELCOMEGAME ON! WINNING WITH COMPOSITES

Workshop: The Art and Science of Bonding Composite Structures12.45pm to 4.00pmWhen joining composite structures we have two principle choices: we

either bolt or bond the structure. Welding of composite structures

can also be done, but is typically a more specialised form of joining

composite materials and is essentially the same as adhesive bonding.

Several factors drive the decision to bolt or bond the structure, such as:

structural thickness, materials being used (glass, aramid, carbon, etc.), fibre

orientation and stiffness, environmental and loads. This workshop will

provide an extensive discussion and demonstration of surface preparation

of composite materials. The science and, more importantly, the art of

surface preparation and preservation will be reviewed in some detail.

Welcome Reception6.30pm to 8.30pmThe welcome reception will be held onsite at the Intercontinental

Sanctuary Cove by the lagoon. Dress code: Hawaiian theme so come

along in your favourite shirt/tropical outfit.

Conference DinnerCoaches departs the conference venue at 6.10pm sharp. The dinner is to

be held offsite at Dreamworld. Dress code: smart casual.

TUESDAY 21 April, 2015

You will also hear from such highly regarded leaders in composites research and innovation as

• Professor Axel Herrmann, Managing Director of the Airbus subsiduary Composite Technology Centre and Chief Executive of the European composites network CFK-Valley Stade and Fiber International Bremen

• Dr Michael McCabe, Executive Director of the University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute

• Mr Sean McKay, President and Chief Executive of Canada’s Composites Innovation Centre

• Professor Chun Wang Director of RMIT University’s Sir Lawrence Wackett Aerospace Research Centre.

• Mr Jean Meyer, from the Budeswehr Institute for Materials, Fuels and Lubricants, German Armed Forces

• Dr Russell Varley Research Team Leader for Industrial Composites with the CSIRO Manufacturing Flagship

Plus, there’s plenty of time for networking and conducting business at the five-star Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove Resort and its Marina Village, golf club and golf course.

Reserve your seat without delay!

I look forward to welcoming you and your colleagues on Tuesday 21 April, 2015 for the welcome reception by the resort’s Lagoon.
