In 2011, Alex Hope from Double Negative and Ian Livingstone from Eidos, put together a report (Next Gen) that informed the government that the UK contains talent for visual effects and video games. Although, it also included information that the UK’s education system was not displaying the young talent and creativity fully so as a result, they are moving to industries overseas. The NCCA (The National Centre for Computer Animation) at Bournemouth University has become a leading place where teaching and research in computer animation and digital effects takes place. The NCCA also featured in the Next Gen report and once it was published, Sofronis Efstathiou, Adam Twycross and Nasreen El-Mariesh looked at some of the issues that were raised and decided to deal with them. As a result of this, they teamed up with the Arts University of Bournemouth and the NCCA created a hub called ‘The International VFX Hub’, directed by Peter Truckel. Through creating commercial outlets and providing links for students, graduates and academic staff, this helped to raise the profile of Bournemouth by supporting a series of projects. One of these projects included the BFX Festival which enabled fresh talent to showcase their animations and visual effects. Also, it informed the UK of this talent and so, as a result, has helped to inspire and educate the next http://www.mcmcomiccon.com/london/ London MCM Comic Con

Bournemouth Film and Comic Con is a

fairly recent event that will take place

in 2015. I am hoping to attend this

    the film industry.
