The title for both our album promotion poster and Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ album both contain the same font that is used for the actual album itself. This helps the audience to relate the poster they have to seen to the CD when it comes out into stores.

1.

2.Rihanna’s artwork for the poster shows herself – the star of the album and music videos, in vibrant coloured makeup, this makes the poster stand out whenever it is placed and draws peoples attention to look at it. We have incorporated this into our own copy by using vibrant colours, making the stars of the new music video and album stand out in the poster. The preferred meaning for using these vibrant colours in our poster is that it shows the theme of the nightclub already in the poster so that the audience are then intrigued as to why dolls are in the video and not actors.

3.In the promotion poster for the ‘Loud’ album there is a comment included about a #1 hit of Rihanna’s that is on the new album, we included a quote from a critic who stated that the album is the ‘album of the year’ – this draws the audience to notice the poster in the same way Rihanna’s comment has on her album promotion as it makes the upcoming album sound like they are missing out if they don’t buy it.

At the bottom of the promotional poster for Rihanna there is a small logo which advertises the record label that she is with, this label is made small to match the writing that shows a fan based website of Rihanna. The colour of the record label is also the same colour as the rest of the poster writing in order to keep the continuity. We included record labels and producers to our music poster to connote the idea that the artist was a new and important act that had been recognised and signed with well known labels.

The album release date is an essential part of promoting an album as the audience you are targeting the music at need to know when the album is out so that they can purchase it straight away. This also creates excitement with the target audience for the count down of the album to be out on sale for the public.

Both titles of the CD album cover use a style of writing which relates to the genre of music they are addressing. The dance style writing of both CD’s looks attractive as well as fitting the target audience.

2.By using bright colours for the CD artwork it signifies the idea of a nightclub setting. The use of people and strobe lighting in the existing album cover show what happens in a nightclub and shows the audience what the music on the CD’s is going to be relevant too when it comes to genre. We incorporated this idea into our work by using a different part of a nightclub to give the same idea to the audience and let them know that the music was of the dance music genre.

Using language to make the CD sound like a ‘must-have’ makes the audience more likely to purchase the CD as they feel that they are being told the truth about the CD and it really is ‘The Number One Dance Album Of The Year’ or that the songs are really from the ‘BEST CLUB IN THE WORLD!’ When in actual fact, this is just an opinion by critics who like that genre of music.

After researching all different types of dance music albums we discovered that all of the ones we had found included more than one CD. This is also shown in our analysis as the similar product contains 3 CD’s in one album. To keep the continuity of a conventional dance music album, we included two discs in our album. We also used a font which is stereotypically used for dance music album writing as it is simple but still fits the genre of the music it is required for.

2.The back of every music album includes some type of record label to show who manages the artist, This also shows that the music is copyrighted and so people listening to the album cannot copy the songs. We decided to include a record label to our CD cover to keep to typical conventions of a music album. We made the label look like it dealt with music acts by including a picture with the name of the record label.

The existing music album cover uses a series of colours that are repeated throughout the back of the CD which are familiar to the front of the CD. By doing this, it keeps the continuity of styling of the CD and makes it look more attractive. We decided that as we created a dance floor for the front of the album cover, we would continue it onto the back of the CD to show the connection from the front of the cover. This makes the cover look more professional and striking.

3.

The title of the album is on placed on the side of each back cover to show that it is for the same CD, which folds around the case onto the side, so the title of the CD can be seen when it is on a shelf. This is an important part of a CD cover to include so we used the same writing as we used on the front of the CD to show how we kept to the conventions of existing products.
