Out of the blue

In out of the blue, there are certain sayings or sentences indicating his disbelief of the situation. In stanza 5 he says “A bird goes by. The depth is appalling”. This shows his sudden realisation of how high he is and the fact that sooner or later, he will have to jump. Again in stanza 5, he says “ Appalling that others like me should be wind-milling, wheeling, spiralling, falling.” this shows his perseverance in the situation, that he’s not ready to give up like so many others have.

Futility

In the poem Futility conflict is shown through interpretation as an inner conflict structure shows. The demand “ Think “ and “ move him “ is direct address to the reader which causes a personal effect directed at the reader. The inner conflict structure could show a lack of importance or contain a sense of confusion and grief.

Out of the blue

In out of the blue, he describes the attack in such an inhumane and vicious way, the last thing anybody would think of was nature, which is usually associated with fragile and beautiful objects

Futility

Throughout the poem, Owen used a lot of nature in his writing and referred his friend to the sun. he said things like “think how it wakes the seeds, once woke the clays of a cold star” this proves his desperation before belief, ending with “ Was it for this the clay grew tall?” When reading this poem, you cant help but feel like nature is claiming itself back after all the years of destruction.
