    Courses and Requirements:

  • Alongside looking at careers, work experience, internships and freelance work

in animation, I have also been looking at post-graduate courses to see whether

it would be worth doing a masters in animation to better my qualifications.

Above, I have included screenshots of websites and possible places that I

would go to in order to study a post-graduate course. In particular, I was

thinking on continuing the animation route, although, I also liked the look of

doing a masters in fine arts. With relation to the places that I would possibly go

to study, I was thinking of continuing at Portsmouth University as I have done

my degree there. However, I also like the look of Bournemouth University as

they are known for their great animation courses and every year they do a VFX

competition which is something that I am looking into. As well as looking at

these particular Universities, I looked on the skillset website as they include

information into which places are best to study animation courses. The

creative skillset course accreditation scheme, devised in consultation with

industry and education providers, recognises University courses within the UK

that provide exceptional standards of training.

Requirements and aspects of a masters scheme include:

    - Must have an honours degree 2:2 minimum although for some its 2:1

    - They have to have a collection of work (showreel/portfolio) that

demonstrates recent engagement and recent activities in the study area.

In my case it would be animation.

    - Its not necessary but previous professional experience would be a plus.

    - MA allows you to develop your 2D and 3D animation skills and

knowledge to a more advanced level.

    - Also, it helps to extend your theoretical and contextual understanding.

    - You will become familiar with professional-level enquiry, research,

creative invention, project planning and management processes.

    - You will have teaching practises and guidance from the industry by

    tutors with industry experience.
