In 1963 in Minerbe, a small town in the North of Italy, the Furlani family decided to establish a manufacturing facility with a solitary aim to create the highest quality machinery and plants for concrete production and materials processing, as well as environmental protection.

Throughout the last 4 decades, high quality combined with avant-garde solutions, allowed SIMEM to develop three Business Units:

1990 – EUROTUNNEL PROJECT

Eight concreting trains manufactured in co-operation with the company Demler-Maitrap (Paris) designed for mixing and distribution of concrete inside the tunnels under the British Channel: each train has been equipped with two different twin shaft mixers, one unit model MSO 3700 and one unit model 9000 Super (capacity 7 cb.mt. per cycle of compacted concrete - the biggest twin shaft mixer in the world). When the Eurotunnel project was completed, all the mixers have been sold and installed for ready-mix concrete production within the plants of different companies in Belgium, Holland, Germany and France.

1993 – NEW HONK KONG AIRPORT (China)

Three continuous concrete plants manufactured in co-operation with the company Planters & Co. for the client ACG in Hong Kong, installed for the construction of the landing stripes of the new airport of Hong Kong. The Flowbeton 500 plants each have a MDC 500 continuous mixer for the production of up to 300 m³/hr of zero slump concrete.

1994 – PETRONAS TOWERS (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia))

Complete Wetbeton 120 Special plant has been installed on the construction site of the highest twin towers in the world where Pioneer was awarded as the concrete major supplier. The configuration of the plant was designed with MSO 4500 twin shaft mixer completed with dry/wet by-pass system for switching the production process according to the requirements of the different areas of the construction.

2001 – CINDERE DAM (Turkey)

Complete double WB160 plant supplied to the company Ozaltin in Turkey for the construction of the RCC dam named Cindere Dam, for the production of 220 m³ x hour with aggregates rated up to 80 mm, flaked ice and chilled water. The plant has been specified with two units MSO 6000, standard version, complete with washing system, filtering system and mixer mind.

2008/2009 – M.O.S.E. PROJECT (Italy)

Requirement

MOSE (Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico) project consists on the achievement of 79 steel sluice gates placed on the seabed at the three outlets of Venice Lagoon. These sluice gates, hollow inside, are filled with water and remain on the bottom because of weight, making it so invisible from the surface. As high water, measuring 110 cm set in the sluice gates would be emptied by a system of pumps pressure or compressed air, and then lifted up like a drawbridge to reach an angle of 45 degrees.

Our solutions

• Calcestruzzi Spa purchased two mobile plants SIMEM SuperMobyMix 100 currently installed on Pellestrina island near the outlet of Malamocco: each plant can reach a production capacity of 100 cubic meters/hour;

• Unicalcestruzzi Spa purchased two mobile plants currently installed on Pellestrina island near the outlet of Chioggia: oneSIMEM MobyMix 3000, a plant with a production capacity of 90 cubic meters/hour and one SIMEM Super Moby Mix 130 with production capacity of 130 cubic meters/hour;

• Laguna Calcestruzzi srl purchased two mobile plants SIMEM MobyMix 3000 with production capacity of 90 cubic meters/hour, currently installed in Punta Sabbioni near the outlet of Lido.

The construction of the Third Locks involves four major actions: 1- deepening the approach channels in the Pacific and Atlantic; 2 - widening and deepening the navigation channels on Lake Gatun and deepening the Culebra Cut or Gaillard Cut; 3 - constructing new locks in both oceans, with the corresponding navigation channels; 4 - raising the maximum operating level at Lake Gatun.

Since 1995 SIMEM has been involved in various

important projects in India contributing with their

technologies to the modernisation of the Sub-

continent.

We can mention our collaboration with Hindustan

Construction Co Ltd. for several projects, such as

the Mumbai Pune expressway for instance, or

several supplies in favour of the most important

Indian Companies such as Gammon India Ltd,

Godreji Group, Soma Enterprises and many others.

In 2003 SIMEM started in India with the activity of

Water Treatment systems, applying the most

advanced technologies for water depuration and

recovery, mainly applied to the textile industry.

In 2010 we are carrying out the integration of our

resources and experiences into a wholly owned

local company with manufacturing facilities and

service centre located in Vadodara - Gujarat.
