Bank SBI Indonesia commenced its Indonesian banking journey when State Bank of India (SBI), the biggest Bank in India, acquired 76% of shares of PT Bank Indomonex on

December 14th 2006, and afterwards took over the management on July 2007 and to beginoperating in Indonesia as the subsidiary of SBI. On June 2009, Bank SBI Indonesia attained

the status as the Foreign Exchange Bank, which authorized the Bank to engage in the business of foreign exchange transaction. Furthermore in the same year the Bank changed its name to Bank SBI Indonesia (SBII) with the intention to reflect the new ownership of SBI.

In August 2013, SBII acquired the additional 23% shares from PT. Ravindo Jaya, which

supplemented its share ownership to 99%. In order to be categorized as a BUKU 2 Bank, the shareholders of SBII had been infusing the additional capital in trenches with the third and last introduction on November 2015.

SBII presently have 7 (seven) branch offices and 5 (five) sub-branch offices spread all over

5 (five) big major cities in Indonesia, i.e. Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang and Medan. Bank SBI Indonesia also has 1 (one) cash point located in the Indian Embassy of Indonesia Jakarta.

State Bank of India (SBI) is the first and the biggest commercial Bank in India from the side of asset, deposit, branch, customer and employee. Established in 1806 under the name of

Bank Calcutta, it thereby developed as SBI and survived thereof for more than 200 years.

SBI head office is located in Mumbai with the major shares owned by Indian Government amounted to 61,23% (Q1 2017). On April 2017, SBI merged itself with 5 (five) Indian major Banks, amongst others are State of Bikaner & Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank
