COMPANY BACKGROUND
RF LIM & Associates, started as the private professional structural engineering practice of Reginald F. Lim, after he left FR Estuar & Associates as a structural designer in 1984. Since that time, he has had the opportunity to design numerous structures, notable among which are the 25 storey Pacific Star (Nauru) Building in Guam, which he designed in 1985 for Gillham, Koebig & Koebig of California, USA and the PLDT Binondo Tower, designed in 1991 and envisioned to be a 24 storey steel framed office/residential condominium with the first 6 storeys and two basements initially built.
The firm was instrumental in defining the structural system for use in the high rise condominiums of City/and Corporation when it conceptualized for Paulino T. Lim & Associates, architects for the project, the structural system to be used for the most cost effective structures that will safely meet local seismic requirements. Starting with the medium rise City/and Condominium 4, and City/and Condominium 7, the structural system used was so cost effective that it led to more ambitious projects, culminating in City/and 10-Towers 1 & 2 and the City/and Herrera Tower. Although City/and Corporation commissioned their own in-house designated structural designers, for the detailed structural engineering design of the projects, RF Lim & Associates nevertheless laid the ground work for the structural system of choice, so that up to now, similar structural systems are used by City/and and its competitors.
The 1990's telecommunications boom shaped the course of the firm as it became heavily involved in the structural analysis and design of telecommunications buildings and towers (PLDT, Asian Cellular Satellite Corp., Mabuhay Satellite Corp., Alcatel, CTV-31, ABC-5, Pi/tel, Smart, lslaCom and Globe), notable among which are the PLDT BMP Cable Landing Station in Nasugbu, Batangas and the PLDT /DC Data Center in Pasig.
The firm since then has been involved in the structural engineering of other building types, such as commercial and recreational structures (Chevrolet Showroom & Fitness First Health Clubs), industrial buildings (Vishay Philippines Electronics Plant, Chuayuco Steel Plant, Diamond Steel Roofing Plant, Nissin Monde Philippines, San Miguel Corporation), financial institutions (Cocolife Head Office Building, BDO, Sterling Bank, PNB, Prudentialife branch buildings), educational institutions (Lyceum Gen. Trias - Cavite Campus, Marymount School, Stonyhurst School and Manresa Schools), hotels (Asya (Canyon) Boracay, Hotel Sofia Boracay, Amarela Hotel Bohol), call centers (Echo Star, Parlance, Teletech) as well as in the structural review and damage assessment of and rehabilitation of structures for the insurance industry.
Through the years, the firm has grown to what it is now, a full pledged A&E (Architectural & Engineering) design consultancy. Clients for which we have completed design projects are PLDT, Globe Telecom, TVS, Manresa Schools, MMDA, Mera/co Industrial and Grain of Wheat Christian Foundation among others.
Project Management was added to our portfolio of services when Engr. Lim, with a group of other project management professionals incorporated in 2007, Optima P3 Management Inc. - a project management consultancy that also handles project management training for colleges and various corporate accounts.
With a competent staff of professional engineers, architects and management professionals and consultants, RF Lim & Associates is ready for the challenges of the new millennium.
