• Establishing of international consortium andpreparation of project proposals in reply to ITT/RFQ andcalls issued by Space agencies, EU and Large ScaleIntegrators in the space sector.

• Providing research and technology engineering,marketing strategies and development plans ofinnovative products and services in the frame ofHorizon 2020 programme.

Engineering

ALMA covers the inception, establishing and execution of RTD andindustrial projects in the public (ESA, EU, ASI) and private spacemarket covering:

• Added-value services in the space market focusing on EarthObservation, Scientific data exploitation and navigationapplication

• High level software development for aerospace applicationswith specific regard to remote sensing data and imageprocessing

• System engineering for satellite and payloads check–outequipment (Mechanical and Electrical Ground SegmentEquipment) covering development and verification

• Support services: Project Management, Quality Assurance,CADM and documentation

Business Development

ALMA provides consultancy support for business development andproposal preparation in ESA, ASI and EU contexts covering:

• Proposal management and support in the preparation of thecomplete bid package covering management, financial andcompliance sections as well as technical in some contexts (E-GSE, M-GSE, software, EO applications and services)

• Business Development: liason and presentation towardpotential customers , identification of opportunities,scouting and establishment of international consortia inreply to ESA ITT, EU and national calls;

• Support to Market Analysis in the space science sector.

• HORUS – Heritage and Observation Retrieval Under Sand, incooperation with Rovsing A/S (DK); customer European Space Agency -ESA.

• PAGIS – PlAnetary Geoscience Information System in cooperationwith IRSPS (I); final customer Italian Space Agency - ASI;

• WHERE –in cooperation with Nextant SpA (I). Completed; finalcustomer: Italian Space Agency - ASI;

• HUYGENS, CASSINI mission (ESA/NASA). EGSE for the HuygensAtmosphere Structure Instrument on board of probe HUYGENS.Customer Galileo Industries ( now Leonardo).

• Bepi Colombo – Euclid. High-Current Pulse Generatorpyrotechnics Initiator designed as an EGSE for the HRMCEdevices (Holdown Restrain Mechanism Control Electronics) partof the antenna release mechanisms. The EGSE was also used forthe final tests of the Pyro Valves of BEPIColombo in Guyana, andfor the HGA of Euclid. The unit is compliant with ElectroExplosive Devices (EED) type PC23 NASA Standard ModelInitiators (NSI), and NEA (Non-Explosive Actuators). Customer:Thales Alenia Space Italy and Airbus UK.

Electrical Ground Support Equipment background - 2

• SICRAL-2. Design and delivery of a FPGA based signal processor for Payload Emulation at VHF frequencies. System engineered in a half-size rack, based on PXI modules. Among the various modules there are 4 vector phase shifters, two local oscillators, 2 RF downconverters. Unit was capable to emulate a 4 elements phased array antenna for beam-steering simulations. Customer Thales Alenia Space, Italy.

• MetOp. Design of the CDPU (Complex Data Processing Unit) and FEE (Front End Electronics) emulation for the RFA (Radio Frequency Assembly) and OBCT/CA (On-Board Calibration Assembly) assembly EGSE of the MetOp MWI (Microwave Imager). System is composed by 3 elements: two modular boxes for acquisition, command, a supply, and an interface system based on PXIe cards installed in the main rack. Delivery completed with a modular, two-boxes EGSE Test Unit for complete HIL (Hardware In-the Loop) testing. Customer Space Engineering SpA (now Airbus IT)
