ACCELERATE THE DELIVERY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS In 2016, eToro turned to Airship to power high-volume notifications and keep pace with the company’s rapid growth. “I remember the days that we had to look into each type of notification that we wanted to release and ask, ‘Can we scale it?’” Sheinholtz said. “And with Airship, the teams know they can execute any idea they want.” Since Airship’s platform is purpose-built to maximize throughput speed, eToro is able to accelerate the delivery of volatility alerts to massive numbers of users at once. “New volatility alerts bring a lot of open trades, which creates revenue for us,” said Sheinholtz.

REACH INVESTORS THROUGH MULTIPLE CHANNELS While over 60% of eToro users are mobile, not all of them have the app. After launching mobile push notifications, eToro added Airship Web Notifications to the mix to provide one more channel to help investors stay up to date with market movements on any device.

KEEP USERS ENGAGED WITH SOCIAL ALERTS Keeping users updated about the investors and assets they follow and copy is key to driving engagement. Using custom event triggers in Airship, eToro sends automated alerts to users when risk scores increase for anyone they copy, or when an asset shows volatility — directing them into the app to check out what’s changed and make adjustments to their own investment allocations.

TRACK PERFORMANCE WITH THE HELP OF REAL-TIME DATA STREAMING By using Real-Time Data Streaming to send engagement data from Airship to its BI system, eToro gets rapid insight into how notifications affect first-time deposits, redeposits and churn, allowing the company to continually optimize its approach. “What we missed before is the ability to understand how effective our notifications were,” said Sheinholtz. “Now, we can send the exact notification that will likely lead to the best results in terms of open rates and open trades.”
