    Each Compact device provides differenttypes of protection depending on theassociated trip unit:

    On Compact NS100 to NS250 circuit

    breakers, the thermal-magnetic andelectronic trip units are interchangeable andmay be rapidly fitted to the circuit breakers.

    It is therefore easy to change the protection

    of a given circuit following a modification inan installation.

    Auxiliary switch and MX release for Compact NS.

    motor mechanism

    Compact NS250N with motor mechanism.

    A motor mechanism can be fitted to the frontface of Compact NS100 to C1251 circuitbreakers. Remote control of the opening,closing and reset functions is then possiblevia 2 or 3 impulse or maintained signals.If necessary, the circuit breakers can still beoperated locally via the controls on the front

    face.The motor mechanism modules for each

    range have a common size.The motor mechanism module forCompact NS is also available incommunicating version (see Digipact

    catalogue).

    Vigi earth-fault protectionmodule

    Vigi modules can be added to Compact NS

    circuit breakers to provide earth-faultprotection. The Vigi modules fit directly onthe circuit breaker terminals.

    The addition of a Vigi module has no effecton the other performance characteristics ofthe circuit breaker.

    All Compact circuit breakers aresuitable for isolation as defined in IECstandard 947-2:cthe isolation position corresponds to the O(OFF position);cthe operating handle cannot indicatethe "off" position unless the contacts areeffectively open;cpadlocks may not be installed unless thecontacts are open.Installation of a rotary handle or a motormechanism does not alter the reliabilitythe position indication system.

    Zone selective interlocking (Z)A number of circuit breakers areinterconnected one after another by a pilot-

    wire. In the event of a short-time or earthfault, the control unit applies the set timedelay only if it receives a signal from adownstream circuit breaker. If not, it trips

    instantaneously (tripping time as 0.1 short-time setting). In this way, the fault is clearedrapidly by the nearest circuit breaker. Thethermal stresses in the installation areminimised while maintaining time

    discrimination throughout the entireinstallation.Opto-electronic outputsThe use of opto-transistors ensures totalisolation between the internal circuits of thecontrol unit and the circuits wired by theuser.
