Environmental Impact Statement Public Exhibition
The NSW and Federal Governments, Transurban and the Westlink M7 shareholders are planning to construct and
operate a tolled motorway linking the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at West Pennant
Hills (NorthConnex).
NorthConnex is being assessed under and has been
declared State Significant Infrastructure and Critical State Significant Infrastructure.
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DP&E) has placed the NorthConnex Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) on public exhibition, from 15 July 2014. Written submissions should be sent to the DP&E and will be
received during the public exhibition period.

NorthConnex will deliver significant benefits to local communities by easing congestion on
Pennant Hills Road, putting more than 5,000 trucks a day underground and returning local streets
to local communities.

Key features
NorthConnex includes twin motorway tunnels around nine
kilometres in length with two lanes and an additional
breakdown lane in each direction. The tunnels would have
an increased height clearance of 5.3 metres and a speed
limit of 80 km/h.
Motorway would be built with capacity for a third lane
in each direction if required in the future
Northern interchange with Pennant Hills Road and
the M1 Pacific Motorway
Southern interchange with Pennant Hills Road and
the Hills M2 Motorway
Integration work with the Hills M2 Motorway including
the provision of a new westbound lane on the Hills
M2 Motorway from Pennant Hills Road to the
Windsor Road interchange

Eaton Road near the southern interchange and

The project team will be hosting a topic specific public forum on air quality
