1. Open Forum:

Renia Webb came to say thank you for the experiencing serving her two terms on the Board

Rachel, a beat 15x neighborhood leader; hasn’t had NCPC meeting in a while, hasn’t heard back from OPD or

NSCs. (DC Cunningham said he would get an answer for her by Friday)

2. Membership Updates:

Chairperson Ashford: tried reaching out to CMs Kaplan, Gallo, and OUSD.

3. Minutes: Review and Approval of May 3rd, 2017 minutes

The minutes were approved with two abstentions: Walton and Martin (absent in April).

4. Update from OPD Deputy Chief Cunningham

The Board thanked DC Cunningham for his constant participation in meetings and welcomed newly promoted

DC Armstrong who will be attending in the future.

DC Cunningham toughed on some key issues: new risk management practices; stop data issues, examining

disparities, new procedural justice training, examining how they respond to shootings, Dr Eberhardt recent

study that found OPD approach people of color with less respect.

One question was raised as to what role board should play in participating in development of OPD’s

procedural justice 2 training

Another Question was raised as to sideshow legislation; why don’t we similarly seize vehicles of Johns.

a. Review of Community Resource Officers Policies and Procedures

The Board reviewed the Policies and procedures and felt that there should be more elaboration as to the role of

the Neighborhood Services Coordinator.

5. NC/NCPC Funds Update

Members Link and Bradford met with Council members McElhaney today to get support; Council Member

Kalb’s Office thought the funds were already part of the budget; CMs Gallo, Guillen, and Campbell-

Washington have signaled support. He is going to reach out to CMs Kaplan and Reid next.

6. Updates on NC/NCPC Survey Collection

Chairperson Ashford indicated over 60 responses so far. Member Bradford is proceeding to visit some NCPCs

this month and Member Sidebotham noted it can be difficult getting on agendas. Member Leonard had a

situation where the NSC forgot to bring the survey to the meeting.
