The placements combine the enjoyable aspects of country life and rural medicine. The Bush Bursaries are funded by Edward River Council and scholarships are funded by the Country Women’s Association of NSW. They are administered by RDN. “These bursaries are a great way to encourage student doctors and nurses to consider moving to the bush once their studies are completed,” mayor Norm Brennan said. The bursaries not only provide work experience but true country life experience as well. “Local community groups are welcome to contact Council if they’d like to join us in involving the students in our way of life - to really sell Deni and the region in the hope they may return to live and work here once qualified.” If your sporting, social or community group would like to host the students, please call Council on 03 58983000.
