What is the Community Involvement Group?

The Community Involvement Group is a voluntary activity for S6 pupils to decide to get involved with.

The activities of the group focus on building positive relationships in the School, local and global communities by offering them help and support.

The benefits of joining Community Involvement

Community Involvement work gives you the chance to develop your people and management skills through organising events.

Being able to see the problems others face helps you appreciate your own life.

Being able to support others helps you develop as a RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN by letting you see that when you get involved you can make a difference.

Examples of our work – School Disco

We held a Halloween School Disco for S6.

This generated school funds and helped support our sense of school community.

Examples of our work – Pantomime Trip

We organised a pantomime trip to the SECC for all S1/2 pupils.

This improved pupil morale in the School Community, and provided funds to host a Senior Citizens party for all our local parishes.

Examples of our work – Senior Citizens Party

We organised a Senior Citizens Christmas party for members of all our local parishes.

This helped show people our age in a positive light and show that the School is committed to the local community.

Examples of our work – Nursery Appeal

We organised presents for children in an Easterhouse nursery by getting all of S6 to buy a gift for a particular child.

This helped remind everyone about the importance of helping others and the spirit of Christmas.

The Head of the nursery also said it had helped the children by showing them positive older role models who care for others.

Examples of our work – Dress Down Day

We organised a “dress down day” where pupils and staff could come in casually dressed in return for the “payment” of some groceries.

This improved pupil morale in the School Community, and provided use with materials to make up food parcels for:

– CARDINAL WINNING PRO LIFE INITIATIVE;– EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE HOMELESS UNIT;– GOVAN INITIATIVE FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS.

Examples of our work – SIR

We have supported the work of Scottish International Relief (SIR) through providing backpacks of materials for school pupils and raising funds for medical facilities.

This improved pupil morale in the School Community by allowing everyone to see that they could actively help other people thousands of miles away.

Examples of our work – Live With Hope
