Transcript of Community Connection Jul 2012

  • The great part is no previous experience is necessary to join your local US Army Rugby Korea team. Presently there are enough experienced team members who are experienced to train non-experienced players. Biggest focus for new players is to omit all knowledge of football prior to playing rugby and to be relatively in good shape due to the demands of the game, explains Captain Palacios. The cost to join is free but members need to go to USARugby.org and register for a CIP number which costs thirty five dollars and also need to pay ninety eight thousand WON for a kit, team jersey, shorts and socks. If youre interested in joining your local rugby team join by; sending a message to US Army Rugby Koreas Facebook, email [email protected], or contact Captain Palacios at 010-2731-8441 or email him on his Global email account. Another way to join is show up at practice. USAG Yongsans Rugby practice is held on every Tuesday from 2000-2130 at Field #12 next Collier Community Fitness Center Parking Lot and every Saturday from 1000-1200 at Seoul American High School Field. Community members are welcome to participate by attending games and cheering from the sidelines. The next rugby opportunity will be held either the twelfth of nineteenth of November featuring an EXPACT team and Military rugby team at the Seoul American High School Field. Dates can be verified at the above contact information tools. Thank you to Captain Palacios for making a positive impact to our community and I hope to see all US Military Instillations have a rugby team in the near future. A little bit of everything. Most people associate the

word, core with abs and while your abdominals

are definitely PART of your core, they are far from

the complete picture. From a functional

performance perspective, your core is comprised of

the general trunk area and even works in

conjunction with your shoulders and hips.

Your core serves as the centerpiece of the body

where all of the other limbs attach and move off of.

If you have a strong core, it allows you to move the

rest of your body that much more efficiently and

effectively. At the same time, a weak core means

that you have significantly less control over your

body's movement. Think for a second the way you

would hold a hammer while punching a nail through

a wall. Now imagine if you were to loosen your grip

and attempt the same feat. Regardless of how solid

and durable the hammer is, it would only be

effective when used with control and a sturdy grip.

It depends. While there are countless core

exercises out there, it's important to remember one

of the most important purposes of the core. To put it

simply, often times the main job of the core is to

remain still while some other part of the body is

moving. If you are squatting with heavy weight, you

need your trunk to support the weight of the bar

while your legs move. If you are carrying groceries,

you need your body to remain upright while your

arms are holding a dozen bags (in each hand

probably). If you are executing pushups for a PT test,

you need your back to remain level with the ground

while your arms bend and extend. Even if you are

just sitting in your chair, you should consciously

make an effort to keep your body upright while your

hands are busy typing away. Any exercise (or life

activity for that matter) that forces you to actively

keep your trunk in place while moving some other

part of the body can be helpful in developing your

    core.
